Kucinich Campaign Hoping to Rolling Out Energy-Efficient Computers Cooled by Veggie Oil. Seriously.

Some say Dennis Kucinich is a little off-kilter (enter UFO joke here), and his most recent idea does seem pretty out there. But is it really? Turns out the campaign's multimedia director, Chad Ely, is also an inventor and is assisting the camp in rolling out veggie-oil-cooled computers to every office. The entire processing system is submerged in oil, which keeps it cool and decreases the energy used to run it. It's also economical and dead quiet (you know, because it doesn't have all those fans). The prototype pictured above, which has been going strong for eight months, lives in a fish tank, although Ely claims the computers going out to the offices will be surrounded by Plexiglass. I think it's pretty wild. Apparently, other "computer modifiers" are already hip to it. This according to our tech guy.
But that's not all. Kucinich signed an agreement yesterday with SmartPower in which he promises that if elected president, he will make the White House 100 percent energy efficient (enter veggie-oil-filled WH joke here). Mother Jones has more fun facts about the presidential campaigns' commitment—or lack there of—to decreasing their environmental impact. Stay tuned.
Correction: Ok, so technically the Kucinich campaign is not yet rolling out these veggie-oil-filled, wonderfully efficient and quiet computers. According to the campaign, it is still waiting on funding, but as commenter Croydon Kemp reminded us, it's more than most are doing for the planet.

It's a novel idea. I wouldn't mind more research into the possibilities. What about glycerin? I'm sure repairing it would be a huge mess though. Nonetheless, I am extremely tired of the buzzing noises of electronics, can someone figure out how to get rid of that sound?

I have an associates degree in Advanced inter networking and work in Systems Engineering at Panasonic and I think it could be a wave of the future.
It could create a shift in our para-dime of computer reality.
I mean... look at digital watches. They were first invented by a Swiss clockmaker. It was such a wacky idea that when they brought it to the annual clock convention they didn't even patient it. The Japanese took one look at it and here we are today with most clocks digital.

I mean why not? The first car or one of the first cars (not sure) that runs on old vegetable oil recycled from restaurants was invented and test driven right here at the University of South Florida in Tampa. So there ARE alternate forms of energy out there, people, companies and organizations just need the funding to switch it all over! Marvelous and incredible idea and one that should be promoted, not just in a presidential campaign but EVERYWHERE! Kucinich is really attempting to change the paradigm here!

Kucinich is the one. Which one?
The one to think outside the box.
The one to start the impeachment.
The one to know Single Payer Healthcare is the best way to get healthcare for all.
The one to bring the troops home.
The one who is least likely to push the button.
The one who never did trust Diebold and wants paper ballots at least for the Federal Elections.
The one with the gorgeous wife.
The one with the Irish mother and Serbo-Croatian Father and Friend from Hollywood, Shirley MacLaine
The one who will make us happy to be Americans again. Not just proud- but happy!

With so much advancement in the computer world, most of the pc today are insanely fast, the downside is a lot are not energy efficient and power hungry machine ! this is truly a welcome invention by Mr. Chad Ely and that further funding is needed to make it a standard to all pc users, less power consumptions means less pollution and less pollution is considered Mother Earth Friendly !

Kucinich is hardly out in left field. He's just not another Politics As Usual representative. The man is bright, articulate, and one of the few to consistently vote in what history proves to be the right way. He was against the war in Iraq, has a pointed plan to get us back out of there, and to pursue peaceful resolutions. Radical? Hardly. More like Sane.

Yea... Um, hate to burst the bubble but liquid cooling ISN'T new. Let me be the first to say: Welcome to the world that PROFESSIONAL computer modders have been living in for 10 years now. So nice of you to join us.
PS - Anyone can make a computer "energy efficient" by removing all the peripherals. (As pictured above - take a closer look.)

Kucinich for President 2008! We need some honestly and integrity in the white house for a change.

Just like everything else he does or says Kucinich is the most visionary candidate I've seen in my almost 50 years of watching politics. At a time of crisis unmatched since our civil war we need another Lincoln to follow a failed President like Buchanan was. Amnerica's future depends on Kucinich and Kucinich depends on us.

A number of PC Modification sites have done cooling modifications.
This is done for performance enhancement, not energy savings.

Lower power components are the future of all electronics.
LEDs or Light Emitting Diodes will be the light bulbs of the future, more light for less watts.
Our TV and computer screens will use Organic LED or Quantum Dot LED's that don't need a back light which is the major power requirement for displays.
They will be brighter, higher resolution, better color palate, and use less power.
Carbon Nanotube, Ultracapacitors will replace traditional batteries. They charge instantly, carry a high charge and are made from materials that are environmentally safe.
They also last a very long time, no charge memory issue or degrading. Who gets to use them now? The US Military.

This is sort of cheesy and I wonder if campaign money couldn't be better spent, but nonetheless I support Dennis because he's the only REAL candidate. The only candidate who doesn't side step questions or flip-flop (insert Iraq War authorization vote joke here) and doesn't take money from special interests.

"...he will make the White House 100 percent energy efficient..."
So that means he's got a line on lighting technology that produces absolutely NO waste heat?
An insulating scheme that's rated at R-Infinity?
(insert UFO technology joke here)
I share the goal of reducing pollution and improving energy efficiency as much as practical technology allows..., but Come ON Dennis!
ONE HUNDRED PERCENT Efficiency is QUITE a Tall Order!

Dennis is the only candidate who has demonstrated a clear ability to think! He does seem to use notes, nor does his wife when she speaks. They know what they want to say and say it. Dennis has actually thought things through, is ethical, and the only candidate I see that will not put all of us in subservient positions to the present corporate oligarchy. I'm on board for your campaign and hope the people who think and vote will get behind you. Long shot or not, it could happen. People are sick of the stuff that's going on.

To be generous, he might have meant that 100% the White House's devices (lighting, heating, etc.) would be replaced with more energy-efficient versions.

Yeah, I know that what he intends is probably something along those lines, but I just have to pigeon-hole comments like that alongside thirty-odd years of promises I've heard from candidates who are going to "eliminate waste and inefficiency in government".
Sounds REAL Good, but...
What does it Mean..., EXACTLY, and HOW are you going to go about it?

I hate those fans. I can't believe this sort of idea has never came around before, although changing out sound cards and memory chips would get messy! Or maybe not, if it was designed right...might cause certain insurance policies to rise, like a waterbed does, but heck, let's do this thang!
