Ron Paul: The Only Candidate that Won't Land Catholics in a Pit of Eternal Fire. ... Or Is He?

The nation's bishops held a press conference yesterday to warn that the choices Roman Catholic voters make at the ballot box may put their eternal salvation at risk. In large part, they appeared to be talking about the candidates' stances on abortion. The take-home message: Vote for a Democrat, go to Hell. (more after the jump)

But we're not being entirely fair. Let's face it: Jesus isn't on the ballot. Every last one of these candidates is a filthy sinner, and as soon as any one of them takes the reins, he or she will start making moral judgements with global ramifications. Just to get in the saddle, all are taking stances that clash with those of the church.

Rudy G? He's pro-choice anyway, but Mr. Machismo is also unapologetically pro-war and pro-death penalty. He's also divorced, and thus will drag your writhing soul with him into the underworld.

Fred Thompson? He's a pro-capital punishment hawk who thinks we need to give the Pentagon even more money so it can wreak havoc in ... Iran perhaps?

Hell.

Mitt Romney? He's a Mormon.

Hell.

Voting Democratic may lead the confirmed into pits of burning sulfur, but the fact is, most every GOP candidate is gung-ho on the war and thinks the state should fry death row inmates. What's a good Catholic to do?

Hmm. Well there is Ron Paul. Paul thinks life begins at conception. He's against the war, the death penalty and embryonic stem cell research. Even though he voted against the amendment to ban gay marriage--as a libertarian Republican, he thinks it's not the government's business--he's personally against the practice. Could Paul really be The One to guide voters to Heaven?

Oh, wait. Turns out he wants to legalize, or at least decriminalize prostitution.

Hell.

Comments

-Dr. Paul isn't against embryonic stem cell research. He's just against killing babies and federal funding for said research. If you can find a baby that died on its own, then that's okay. It's still grizzly, but not murder.

-Hey, wasn't it Jesus that protected that prostitute when a crowd was going to stone her to death?

Ron Paul

Republican Representative (TX-14)

Embryonic stem cell programs not constitutionally authorized

Q: Would you expand federal funding of embryonic stem cell research?

A: Programs like this are not authorized under the Constitution. The trouble with issues like this is, in Washington we either prohibit it or subsidize it. And the market should deal with it, and the states should deal with it.

Source: 2007 GOP primary debate, at Reagan library, hosted by MSNBC May 3, 2007

Voted NO on expanding research to more embryonic stem cell lines.

Allows federal funding for research that utilizes human embryonic stem cells, regardless of the date on which the stem cells were derived from a human embryo, provided such embryos:

have been donated from in vitro fertilization clinics; were created for the purposes of fertility treatment; were in excess of the needs of the individuals seeking such treatment and would otherwise be discarded; and were donated by such individuals with written informed consent and without any financial or other inducements.

Proponents support voting YES because:

Since 2 years ago, the last Stem Cell bill, public support has surged for stem cells. Research is proceeding unfettered and, in some cases, without ethical standards in other countries. And even when these countries have ethical standards, our failures are allowing them to gain the scientific edge over the US. Some suggest that it is Congress' role to tell researchers what kinds of cells to use.

Voted NO on allowing human embryonic stem cell research. To provide for human embryonic stem cell research.

A YES vote would:

Call for stem cells to be taken from human embryos that were donated from in vitro fertilization clinics
Require that before the embryos are donated, that it be established that they were created for fertility treatment and in excess of clinical need and otherwise would be discarded Stipulate that those donating the embryos give written consent and do not receive any compensation for the donation.

Dr. Paul is the only Republican that is against the war and had the courage to stand up to his party and the establishment. No Democratic can compare with him on this issue, the only issue, because it is $2trillion. Do you understand?

Ron Paul is not a supporter of Prostitution. He is against criminalizing it. He considers it a sin but is not for putting people in jail over it. He has the same opinion of drug use.

ontheissues.org is a stupid "sound-bite" equivalent to doing actual research into bills, taking their full effects into consideration, and looking into what the person in question may have actually said about their vote, and why they voted the way they did.

A HUGE majority of Ron Paul's "No" votes have been due to bills spending money the constitution does not specifically authorize congress to spend, and/or exercising authority the constitution does not enumerate to congress.
None of THAT gets in the way of ontheissues.org telling people that Ron Paul "opposes" this, or "supports" that, when Issue Numero Uno for him is always: IS It authorized by the Constitution?
If it didn't pass THAT muster, then whatever lofty goals a bills supporters may be claiming for it are irrelevant.

As a practicing Catholic we seem like to have no other choice, have to vote for Dr. Ron Paul whose standings and personal life as well as truth telling testifying that he is a real, honest man, closest to Catholic Church social/moral teachings.
Look at all other Republican and Democrat candidates who obviously are evil doers and belong to New World Order whose purpose solely is to destroy the church so they can enslave the whole world and sending us all to hell. Be brave! Remember Love is freedom. We have no other chance.
