God Does A Flip-Flop—Tells Richard Roberts To Resign From ORU
Richard Roberts resigned as president of Oral Roberts University today. He did so against his will, because, he said, God told him to do it. According to Roberts, the son of ORU founder Oral Roberts, God has been waffling lately with regard to Roberts' future.
A lawsuit accuses Roberts of lavish spending while the university faced more than $50 million in debt. According to the suit, he went on shopping sprees, bought a stable of horses, and sent his daughter to the Bahamas aboard the university jet. Referring to the three former professors who filed the suit as his "persecutors," Roberts said that God had originally instructed him to deny all allegations, but on Thanksgiving Day, did a turnaround and told him to resign his post.
The lawsuit was not just about Roberts' alleged spending during a time when ORU was $50 million in debt, but also included an allegation that Roberts illegally mobilized students to campaign for a Republican mayoral candidate. Another allegation was that Roberts' on-campus house had been remodeled fourteen times in eleven years, and one that did not make the lawsuit was that Roberts used university-purchased cell phones to text messages to under-age males in the middle of the night.
Here is the text of what Roberts said God told him after God had a change of mind about the matter: "We live in a litigious society. Anyone can get mad and file a lawsuit against another person whether they have a legitimate case or not. This lawsuit ... is about intimidation, blackmail and extortion."
Not all of the news was bad. According to Roberts, God also said that something miraculous would occur on the university's behalf if he resigned. And now Mart Green, founder of the Christian office and educational supply store chain Mardel, said he would immediately give $8 million to the university, with another $62 million to come after a review of the university's financial records.

I hope Richard will be reinstated. Who can cast the first stone? He and his family have won so many souls for Christ. His television ministry is of the most value. Healing prayer, encouragment and so much more. We need Richard Roberts. Lets work through these problems. The world will use it for Satans benefit, God uses it to show others Christians have personal struggles also but we have a loving God that forgives and forgets. Don't be so quick to dismiss Richard Roberts. Instead, get the facts, help him and redirect any misdirection. Thank you , In Christ, JUdy Mccabe

just to be clear here, it was MRS. Roberts who used university-purchased cell phones to text messages to under-age males in the middle of the night.

Come now, ORU is a prestigious semi-legitimate institution of some form of learning; as its president, Richard was clearly entitled to use University money for things not clearly/at all related to educational/indoctrinational purposes. Sure, these expenses may look like the very worst forms of hypocritical embezzlement, but they are actually divine mysteries for us to ponder, and to thereby deepen our faith. Thank you, Richard, and God bless!

I am saddend by the situation at ORU. I am sad for the struggling parents and their precious children who have made a decision to attend this fine institution. Children preparing for the calling of GOD.
As I am not Richard or Lindsay Roberts judge I do believe they should step down AND COMPLETELY STEP AWAY from the University.
In light of the recent revelation concerning six other ministries with insatiable appetites for a luxurious lifestyle who are being congressionally reviewed, I wonder if GOD is not ripping back the veil of creed, deciet and immoral conduct of these self professing preachers. Exposing them for the true people they are!
In these times I truly believe that GOD is getting "his world" in order!
I am confident that if GOD demanded Mr. Roberts to step down...GOD, no doubt, had warned him of the evil in Roberts misuse of GOD's work and cash.

Should there not be an investigation of the accusations of Mrs. Roberts involvement with "underage" boys?
Could this be criminal?

What would Jesus think of the Roberts' hypocrisy?
"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You are like whitewashed tombs, which look beautiful on the outside but on the inside are full of dead men's bones and everything unclean. In the same way, on the outside you appear to people as righteous but on the inside you are full of hypocrisy and wickedness. (NIV, Matthew 23:27-28)"
What would be the proper biblical punishment for adultery?
Leviticus 20:10 says it is an act punishable by death.
May the Roberts' god of war, hatred and bloodshed smite them and send them to hell for their blasphemies.

Preachers are not suppose to be rich on this earth. Jesus came into the world with nothing and left with nothing. Too many pastors these days are worshiping the almighty dollar and in the ministry for the wrong reason. They should get a salary like everyone else and have to work like everyone else and stop beating off the church. Im afraid there is gonna be alot of ministers answering to God for things they have done in HIS name.
