Jenna Bush Is Not a Rock Star

Right now, merely steps away from our humble D.C. bureau, First Daughter Jenna Bush is signing copies of her new book, Ana's Story, at our local Borders. Except for an extra helping of Young Republicans milling around in New Paperbacks, you wouldn't even know she was in there. The turnout is modest at best, a sign, perhaps, that book publishing is a brutal business, even with White House connections. Still, Bush's book ranks a very respectable 729 on Amazon...

But is she published by that hack outfit that subsidizes right wingers?
Jenna Bush has never pretended to be a rock star. She's a young woman who is now an author and has written a very touching book. I attended the signing where at least 150-200 people came through the line just while I was there. I found her to be an impresseive, personable and charming young woman. I have read the book and found the issues she writes about are not so much political as they are humanitarian issues.
I don't claim to be a republican or democrat. I saw a diverse group of people at the signing, not just "young republicans" (which I'm not exactly sure how you identify a young rep from a young dem unless they have a political sticker on them...)
I'm sorry that you could not have taken a moment to go in, buy a book to support UNICEF (the book's proceeds go to UNICEF), and meet her yourself. Maybe then you could have written something more informed and objective, which is what I'd like to believe journalists still do.
