These Guys for Colbert's New Black Friends: Negroes for Huckabee

A press release I received just now:

Black Conservatives Rally to Urge Mike Huckabee to Stay in Presidential Race
PRESS CONFERENCE
Monday, February 4, 2008
9:45 AM
National Press Club
529 14th Street NW, DC

(DC) – A broad coalition of black conservatives from across the country are holding a press conference to urge former Governor Mike Huckabee to stay in the presidential race for the Republican nomination until the Convention.

"Governor Huckabee should not be intimidated to stop his bid for the republican nomination," states Don Scoggins, veteran GOP activist and among other conservatives hosting the press conference. "The momentum of the grassroots that propelled this party into victory is behind Mike and will not stop fighting for him regardless of his bank account," also states Scoggins, president of Republicans for Black Empowerment, a DC based national grassroots organization.

The concern of the group is the pressure that is mounting by republican talking heads to push governor Huckabee out of the race. The consensus is that Huckabee’s campaign was deliberately sabotaged by Fred Thompson in South Carolina to hone out a two man race between McCain and Romney in Florida. Polls still show Huckabee leading in many southern states, and competitive in others even with limited resources.

"Inside-the-beltway Republicans have lost touch with the increasing seriousness with which heartland conservatives relate to the traditional values agenda," states Star Parker, a nationally syndicated columnist and conservative activist. "More and more folks are feeling personally assaulted by the meaninglessness that is gripping our culture and believe that Mike Huckabee is the only republican candidate that embodies the moral clarity of the GOP ideals. The groundswell generating support for Huckabee’s candidacy understand that moral and economic health go hand in hand and should not be underestimated."

Numerous African American conservatives, many also veteran Republican Party activists, are scheduled to speak at the one hour press conference.

When: Monday, February 4, 2008 – 9:45 AM
Where: National Press Club (Murrow Room)
Who: Black Conservatives for Mike Huckabee

Talk about the Lone Rangers; already black and Republican but too conservative for their own party. I'm not making fun of them. Really. I'm just figuring they must be frustrated as hell.

Jeeze, I would assume a mention from the GOP black caucus, black GOP governors - congress critters and senators? How about the GOP black candidates? (Alan Keyes?)

I totally respect a persons choice of positions but like the log cabin republicans such makes me curious and leaves me wondering.

HOW CAN ANY PERSON OF AFRICAN-AMERICAN HERITAGE WANT HUCKABEE FOR PRES? DON'T THEY RESEARCH THE CANDIDATES THAT THEY THINK THEY ARE VOTIING FOR? HE IS NOTHING BUT A BIGOT, TAKING MONEY FROM WHAT USED TO BE KNOWN AS THE WHITE CITIZENS COUNCIL, AMONG MANY OTHER RACIST GROUPS. THAT IS WHATS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY. PEOPLE ONLY SEE AND HEAR WHAT THEY WANT TO. NOT THE REAL CANDIDATE.

When I hear the word "Conservative" = to save old traditions. The Republicans surely did not practice what they preached in the last eight years. Everytime the Republicans are in power we are left with debt. Now we will pass this latest debt to our children and grandchildren. People please don't help them get back in 'Power'. Don't believe a thing they are saying.

We learned two things from the South Carolina primaries:

Black Democrats for Obama, and

Black Republicans for Huckabee.

I never would vote for Mike Huckabee either, but he ranked head and shoulders above either McCain or Romney during the Republican debate. He was more rational, more humorous and more patient. Too bad he has such other undesireable characteristics...and to think of voting for John McCain is beyond anything I can imagine. What are the Republicans thinking? Even Romney looks good,....well, better.

Well, I hope the Huckster disappears, Ron Paul has got it in the bag. Truth will win out, at last! ~How about those Huckster campaign finance problems? Hmmm? You 'blokes want the Huckster for President?! How is he going to fix our economy? Please....

1. If you are an evangelical Baptist and you really really take all that seriously, that might trump race (and I say this as an atheist NYC Jew, so what do I know).

2. More to the point who showed up at the "black" Republican debate?

3. Claude Allen: Born again evangelical, came to DC as staff for Jesse Helms... the cognitive dissonance drove him crazy.

Marx condemned the sexual freedom advocated by Fourier and Saint-Simon as a relapse into a "bestial" state of "universal prostitution". Engels condemned homosexuality among men of ancient Greece in two separate passages of The Origin of the Family, Private Property, and the State, describing it as "morally deteriorated", "abominable", "loathsome" and "degrading". Marx apparently shared Engels' views, writing that "the relation of man to woman is the most natural relation of human being to human being" and describing the author of a text promoting sexual freedoms as "that queer prick" ("Schwanzschwulen"). According to the socialist writers Hekma, Oosterhuis and Steakley, Marx and Engels saw any form of sexuality outside of a monogamous heterosexual marriage as a kind of degeneracy fostered by capitalism, which could be cured by socialism. According to Engels, "natural moral principles" would flourish in the socialist future, when (heterosexual) "monogamy, instead of declining, finally becomes a reality — for the man as well, and homosexuality would simply disappear.
August Bebel's Woman under Socialism (1879), the "single work dealing with sexuality most widely read by rank-and-file members of the SPD," was even more explicit in warning socialists of the dangers of same-sex love. Bebel attributed "this crime against nature" in both men and women to sexual indulgence and excess, describing it as an upper-class, metropolitan and foreign vice.
