Clinton to Obama: Yes We Can
Just a few hours after Obama campaign manager David Plouffe insisted that Hillary Clinton has virtually no chance to catch his man in the race for pledged delegates, the Clinton campaign held a conference call saying that they intend to be tied with Obama after the March 4 primaries in Ohio and Texas.
Clinton strategist Mark Penn pointed out that Texas' Democratic electorate, which is usually 25 percent Latino, could be as much as 40-50 percent Latino this time around. Ohio, Penn said, is suffering the economic ills that only Hillary Clinton—someone in the "solutions business, not the "promise business"—can heal. Also, in a memo sent around to reporters, Penn pointed out that 41 percent of Ohio's Democratic primary voters in 2004 were white women, a block that is larger than the ones we saw yesterday in Virginia and Maryland.
There are vulnerabilities in Penn's arguments, but also points of strength. Economically minded voters no longer seem to trend to Clinton, no matter how many solutions she has to offer. But white women remain a powerful block for her, and while Latinos in the Potomac Primary went for Obama, they were a tiny percentage of the electorate there and are likely a bad data point when predicting Texas' Latino turnout. The Latino community is Texas is more likely to resemble the one in California that voted heavily for Clinton: more first- and second-generation Latinos that are less assimilated than Mid-Atlantic Latinos and closer to the Latino political machines that are loyal to Clinton.
Team Clinton made sure to point out that they are not focusing solely on Ohio and Texas, however. They mentioned an ad buy in Wisconsin—get ready for the WI/HI primary next Tuesday!—and have apparently set up offices and hired staff in every primary state left on the calendar, plus Puerto Rico. They are ready for a long race, that, in Communications Director Howard Wolfson's words, will ultimately hinge on superdelegates.

"they intend to be tied"
Well that says it all now doesn't it?
If the best they intend to do is tie - they lost.
One wouldn't expect such a weak intention from a winner - it sounds more like the pre-protestations of a whiner.

Poor Hillariously Rotten Clinton...no matter what you do, you will not win, Wisconsin, Hawaii, Texas, Ohio or Rhode Island...and if you do win any, your margin will be so low you probably will end up with the same amt. of delegates as Mr. Obama. Drop out now and save yourself some money and headache! The Repubs. are coalescing around McCain the Dems. now need to coalesce abour Mr. Obama, stop being a distracter...put your man suits back in the closet and go retire with Billy boy.

Lets not pretend that gender does not play a critical role in this election...it is the collection of these types of subtle comments and underlying sexism that is what has disheartened me during this election process. I have great respect for both Obama & Clinton, and yet I struggle to understand why some of my fellow democrats choose not to base their arguments on policy, but instead resort to these sorts of responses.
Even if unintentional, it speaks loudly to how much further we must come.

"Lets not pretend that gender does not play a critical role in this election..."
I'm sure that is true with SOME people but those people would have a gender bias and need to be educated.

Hilary is hilarious! Even after loosing she's in state of denial! That's what make Clintons formidable? Just few months back, she was the inivitable, most experienced, most vetted, most ready to be President!
So what happened now?
Hilary, cry me a river!

Last fall, I thought the Republicans had NO chance of retaining the presidency. I was wrong. They had ONE chance. If , by some means, they were able to achieve a contest between McCain and a black man, THEN they could win. Who would have thought such a thing could happen? But it did. The FIVE media corporations have systematically belittled Hillary while promoting Obama..They picture Hillary in ridiculous poses while depicting Obama as thoughtful and presidential. By promoting a black man they have managed to divide the democrats so that the blacks and a few white liberals vote for Obama while the Republicans and the closet white racists, independent and democratic moderates vote for McCain. It is a contest about racism, not about the Iraq war , Global Warming, or Universal health care for some 40 million americans. The sad part of it is that McCain is probably the least intelligent of all the candidates when this country needs its best minds working to solve our problems.

Jack, you are so wrong. This is not about racism. If it is, then it is about yours. Obama is not a 'black man' as you put it. He is an American, with the same dreams, goals and aspirations like any of America's adults. His colour is as irrelevant as the fact that Hillary is female. Increasingly, American voters agree with me, more than they do with your sad twisted analysis.

No, Capt, not swimsuits. Thats a damn fine point.
and since were all name-calling and this and that as a straight, white, male i have to admit i would much rather see obama in a swimsuit than hillary. actually, if i had to make out with one or the other... ok, ok, ok... if you guys HAD to make out with hillary or barack who would it be? Come on... answer it.

"if you guys HAD to"
A very hard question - I'd close my eyes and think pretty thoughts?
Just about a 50/50 - lucky for me neither would be interested as they both have better looking spouses - Michelle Obama makes me sound like a bad impression of Austin Powers (oh behave)

Jack brings up an interesting point. I’ll take it one step further and pose the question: Is Obama being promoted by “the man” as it where (GOP machine, Fox, whatever you wish to refer to it by), because he is less likely to win against McCain? Are they scared of Clinton? That she may actually have a good chance of taking down the GOP? Hmmmmm……..
PS. EP is right, latent misogyny is of the worst kind…..unintentional, deniable, but true all the same…..why ya’ll gotta be haten?

Anyone that votes for Obama is following victim to the brainwash of the press. They are involved in a cult and have no mind of their own. Only the weakenss to follow the press. Hillary is by far the best choice to lead this country and in the end it is Hillary who will emerge as the democrat's candidate. Obama is all talk and no solutions...It is a shame there are so many weak minded individuals in this country. Show you have a mind of your own and vote for Hillary Clinton...

Hillary Clinton is the far superior candidate. Do not be a victim of a cult. Obama's middle name is Hussein. He is from a muslim family. Do not let his speeches brainwash you like Hitler did to the masses in Nazi Germany..............Obama is dangerous................ Vote for Hillary !!!

In American democracy as we know it, there can be huge differences in the amount of money being shelled out to "shell out" the voters. The huge amounts being poured out by the Obama campaign need not dictate the outcome. Resist the Glitzkrieg!

What a tired meme, all Obama supporters are just weak minded followers and brainwashed drones? We fall for the words and swoon for the sound. We sway like so many leaves of grass in a stiff breeze?
You think so little of yourself to post such crud is just sad.
No well informed - clear thinking individual could support BHO. (ever)
That really makes sense to you?
Get some help.
