Civil Rights Hero Makes It Official: I'm Dumping Clinton for Obama

Two weeks ago I identified a possible tipping point for Barack Obama: Representative John Lewis's statement that he probably would vote for Obama as a superdelegate at the Democratic convention.

Now the civil rights hero has made it official by actually endorsing Obama.

Lewis has a lot of cred among House Democrats, among African American Democrats, among superdelegates. His move is an indicator that Clinton, who has a lead in committed superdelegates at this point, may not be able to count on that support. Lewis's announcement--even though it's not so newsy given his previous statement--is rather bad news for the Clinton camp.

I'm starting to think this is a racist web site that has Obama on the brain.

Many readers might doubt the relevance here, but hold your horses and remember how Paula Jones filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Bill Clinton--you know, the one where he lied and nearly lost his job...

Sure thing...; and once upon a time, Rep. Mark Foley was known as a crusader against child abuse and exploitation--until ABC News learned of his remarkably nasty behavior around young male Congressional pages...

Until early 2006, Frank Figueroa headed Operation Predator--a Dept. of Homeland Security program that deports foreigners convicted of sex crimes--until he pleaded no contest to exposing his genitals to a 16-year-old girl.

Currently serving five years in prison--on Sept. 19, 2006, Brian Doyle, the deputy press secretary for the Dept. of Homeland Security, pleaded no contest to using a computer to seduce an undercover detective (read a 14-year-old girl...).

Congressman and anti-gay activist Robert Bauman was charged with having sex with a 16-year-old boy...

Congressman Buz Lukens was found guilty of having sex with a female minor...

Judge Mark Pazuhanich pleaded no contest to fondling a 10-year-old girl...

Judge Ronald Kline was sentenced for child molestation...

Mayor Philip Giordano is serving a 37-year sentence for sexual abuse...

Mayor John Gosek was arrested for soliciting sex from two 15-year-old girls...

Legislator Edison Aldarondo was sentenced to ten years for rape...

Legislator Peter Dibble pleaded no contest to having an inappropriate relationship with a 13-year-old girl...

County Commissioner David Swartz pleaded guilty to molesting two girls under the age of 11...

County Commissioner Merrill Barter pleaded guilty to unlawful sex and assault on a teenage boy...

Election board official Kevin Coan was sentenced for soliciting sex from a 14-year-old girl...

City Councilman Fred Smeltzer, Jr. pleaded no contest to raping a 15-year-old girl...

City Councilman Mark Harris was convicted of sex with an 11-year-old girl...

Director of the "Young Republican Federation" Nicholas Elizondo was sentenced to six years for molesting a 6-year-old girl...

Patience, patience--my point is that John Lewis was first off a supporter of "the Clintons"; "The Clinton years indeed saw an all-out expansion of nuclear power, not only in the US, but all over the globe. First came the deal to begin selling nuclear reactors to China ... even though Zemin brazenly vowed at the time not to abide by the so-called "full scope safeguards" spelled out in the International Atomic Energy Act. The move was apparently made over the objections of Clinton's National Security Advisor Sandy Berger, who cited repeated exports by China of "dual use" technologies to Iran, Pakistan and Iraq. The CIA also weighed in against the deal, pointing out in a report to the President that "CHINA WAS THE SINGLE MOST IMPORT SUPPLIER OF EQUIPMENT AND TECHNOLOGY FOR WEAPONS OF MASS DESTRUCTION" worldwide."

Of course Obama is onboard the Good Ship Nuclear Power...

Good thing Nader spells out how, "Then the big break came--global warming fed by the burning of coal, oil and gas. Viola, atomic energy, its proponents declared, produces no greenhouse gases (apart from massive COAL fuel emissions to enrich the uranium), R. Nader, Nuclear Power is Not the Answer, Common Dreams, 09/11/07.

Hey, and how about the new Maglev wind generators (cheaper, environmentally friendly, while producing more juice from winds as slow as 3 mph)--shouldn't we be hearing about how this new technology is perfectly suited for offshore wind farms... What's the real story here???!!!

It would certainly seems we could easily "harvest" virtually free energy--like Who Killed the Electric Car (GUESS!!!).

In conclusion..., the fact that John Lewis has demonstrated for civil rights, ect. doesn't overcome the facts of his identification with those two losers...!!!

Tired already of the Obama show. He speaks well, but has very little substance. Yes from an independent who has not voted for a republican in 30 years. Uh I am going with McCain. Period.

Suck it up, morons; Obama is The Man Of the Hour; JFK redux. So he's winning on his personality; so what? That's what *every* successful politician does. It's just too bad for Hilary the more people like him than her. Take the VP slot, babe.

Democrats rule and Republicans drool! 'Nuff said.

I'm pretty sure Mother will win. It's her destiny. It will be a hard-won victory.

Americans will realize in time that only a ball-busting, castrating but benevolent Matriarch can deal best with the indifferent, greedy a-holes who are in control this country.

Big MOJO here--on days when there's not enough wind or sun (with offshore wind farms wouldn't this be very, very rare...?), use pollution free hydrogen to run electricity generators... You know..., on days when there's a lot of wind and sun (as there very often is) make a lot of hydrogen for the rainy days...

...I can understand the pressures our Govt. officials are facing as they contrive to keep Big Oil, ect. happy...

You know..., how come airliners don't use hydrogen nowadays--there's no distribution problem (like there's no distribution problem throwing money at Big Nuclear, ect....).

My understanding is that the civil rights movement fights bigotry. Obama, through his silence, supports the onslaught of misogynistic abuse heaped upon his opponent (imagine if the media were making racist "jokes" and vicious racist statements and him and Clinton did not demand they stop).

Also, through one of his (non-existent, to hear him tell it) PACs, he spent millions lining his South Carolina campaign with openly gay-hating personalities.

His long relationship with his church is another matter. Though I believe him when he says he is not anti-Semitic, he continues to belong to a church that honors Farrakhan as a major icon. This is the man who not only abhors Jews, but who hates all Caucasian people and who promotes male privilege. If I said I wasn't racist but belonged to a church that revered David Duke, what would people say?

Lewis and I have really different ideas about "civil rights."

Naturally, I meant to say "about him," not "and him."

And regarding this subject: There are only two possibilities--either Obama agrees that misogyny and sexism are acceptable, or he has decided to capitalize on them. Either choice is very disturbing.

A vote for McBush is a vote for an economic depression of biblical proportions.
