Obama Campaign: It's Not All About Pennsylvania!

Part of a memo from Obama campaign manager David Plouffe to reporters:

Now that Mississippi is behind us, we move on to the next ten contests. The Clinton Campaign would like to focus your attention only on Pennsylvania — a state in which they have already declared that they are "unbeatable." But Pennsylvania is only one of 10 remaining contests, each important in terms of allocating delegates and ultimately deciding who are nominee will be. Senator Obama campaigned in Pennsylvania yesterday and will do so again later this week, but he will also campaign aggressively in the other upcoming states — he will travel to other upcoming states in the very near future.

Got it, Keystoners? You're not the whole show!

Let's play hypotheticals. Clinton's currently up 19 or so points in Penn. If this holds 'til the election (fat chance; see: every state so far) she stands to gain a maximum of 37 delegates from there. She'll still be c.150 PLEDGED delegates behind Obama. Any other Clinton strongholds left?

I liked 'em both at one point, but facts is facts: she's toast.

wow. that's unnecessarily snarky.

Okay, my arithmetic is terrible. Those numbers should be 19 points, 32 PA delegates, and c.115 pledged delegates. My point holds, though.

What the memo says, but doesn't say explicitly, is that although Clinton thinks it all hinges on PA, and she might win, it won't matter if Obama takes care of business in the remaining 9 states.

Clinton's strategy has been to rely on the big states as insurance, but she'll wish she had hired Obama's campaign manager in August.

Obama is an arsehole with no ideas except the word CHANGE. He can't come up with any concrete ideas because he never accomplished anything, just his boring stories of general theories he's going to do.

Obama is a phoney preacher with his lame rhetoric. He doesn't have a chance because he is a baboon.

Blacks DO NOT elect a president. If blacks had not voted in Mississippi Obama would not have won. Blacks will not put him over in the general. Obama is winning democratic primaries in REPUBLICAN states. REPUBLICAN'S WILL NOT vote for Obama in the general. How pathetic it will be when McCain beats Obama in the general. Democrats are looking at the trinket in the window and forgetting the big picture.

Jan D: I don't think you have much to worry about. The Dems will wake up and the ticket will be Clinton/Obama as I predicted many, many months ago. Both campaigns are in the "Silly" stage now, and this will continue for a few more weeks. Look for some "Real" things being discussed after the Pa., WV., Ky., and In. primaries.

lylepink,

I hope your correct! But, I would rather see a Clinton/Wesley Clark or Clinton/Web ticket than Obama. This world is way too harsh for a dreamer like Obama. Has Obama stood up to a man hurling abuse at him the same way he's attacking Clinton? I don't think so. Republican's will eat him alive and spit out the screaming bones.

Jan D: I get your point, but with 8 years as VP, he will be able to learn what it takes when he will have such an excellent teacher as Hillary. Then if he learns his lessons well, he will make a very good choice in 2016.

The posts here point out what so many Americans are sick and tired of. Politics as usual. Fear mongering and stereotyping.

Get a focus on the issues . . . the WAR, the Economy, the lack of funding for Education and Health care systems.

Our choices have been for too long! the lessor of two evils.
Always more of the same; representation for the rich, the obscenely rich. . . everyone else be damned.

Being for a new paradigm, as represented by the Obama candidacy is refreshing. This is why the interest from the youth (those whose future is at stake) is so high.

The current and past administrations have shown blatant disregard with our future . . . spending on (defense?)the war up and up; spending on education down and down . . . natural resource usage dictated by profit not long term impact and renewal strategies . . . the list goes on and on and on.

It is time for the pendulum to shift back toward the middle. The conservative agenda was usurped by the radical right so called Christians. Spewing hate is not the spiritual values that define Americans. To that end this election will see as we have seen in the primaries, record numbers at the polls. We have been apathetic for FAR TOO LONG!
