John McCain's New Ad: War War War Glory Country War
John McCain's new web video entitled "Sacrifice" is 2:45 of non-stop war-fetishizing. His campaign might as well have played a loop of an American flag waving with fighter jets screeching past. Or heck, even 2:45 of Gladiator starring Russell Crowe.
Here's a word count:
"War": 7 mentions
"Duty": 2
"Honor": 2
"Valor": 2
"Country"/"nation": 5
"Loyalty": 3
"Glory": 5
"God": 1 (just for good measure)
The grave voice-over in the ad says that soldiers' claim on a nation's success in war is "shorn of all romance, all nostalgia." Funny, considering the whole ad is romance and nostalgia for war.
John McCain and "war" is the new Rudy Giuliani and "9/11."
Update: Video of the ad is after the jump.

You knew this was coming, how are you going to get volunteers to spend 100 years in Iraq unless you can get them to turn off their brains wave the flag and stick their heads up their butts? Its yet another variant of the Bush war plan, ask not what your country is doing in your name, ask how glorious it would be to die in your countries name no matter how misguided the cause. Are people really stupid enough to believe that whatever they wrap the flag in is as American as apple pie? Can we all just claim that socialism is patriotism and get the brain dead right to move to France so they can better enjoy the welfare state? I have long considered myself a patriot but I'm real tired of war mongering tyrants usurping patriotism for their misguided war in Iraq.

"John McCain and 'war' is the new Rudy Giuliani and '9/11.'"
If we are lucky, his new tactic will work as well as Giuliani's did.

Settle down and be prepared for more of this until November, because it is all that McCain's got. And now that "his" Surge strategy isn't really paying off, expect him to double down on it. "We aren't committed enough to our interests in the region," he will say in so many words.
Can you say "Surge 2.0?"

Hey Guys,
It just drives you crazy when you see a true American Hero speak the truth..huh? And the part that makes you the most angry is that, in 95% or the counties in the USA this will reasure the common man as to who should be answering that phone at 3:00 am...
Experience DOES count to most of us, and about 35% of independants will be voteing for McCain in Nov. Your ideas are not very appealing to the average american. Why don't you try and get out of your urban thinking cocoon and talk to real people..?

I think old John McCain went plum loco in that Vietnamese stir. I heard they hung him upside down and beat his testicles with jumper cables. That's why he's so crazy and hot headed. It's also why he cant raise his arms over his head. I wouldnt trust him to warm my car up in the morning, much less run the country.

That video turned my stomach. McCain shows signs of dementia and he is to old to lead this country. If he was grandfather to my children, they would never be left along with this demented man. I'm sorry his time in captivity was horrible but it's easy to see what happened to him.

Yes, a true American hero who bombed innocent civilians, including children. It's the american way I guess.
How sad that someone who committed such horrible acts as the long distance killing of innocents can be considered a hero.
