If they weren't so busy playing Xbox or being kept "fat and happy" by tons of reality t.v., fast food, mass consumerism, mainstream media not covering the real problems of the world, etc. If people were told the truth I'm certain people would protest and be more active in wanting to address the problems at hand, but instead we're fed lies and made to feel that we cannot make a difference so no one tries. Don't forget that Marketing and Advertising is a psychological mind f**k is was not originally intended to control society, but it seems to be working that way these days.

....The people need to understand, that the driving forces behind the systems that need change, have learned from the protests back in the sixties. The youth of today have got to at least match the learning curve of the machine...
