Brazen McCain Flip-Flop on the Estate Tax

The Wonk Room has a good catch.

McCain in September 2005:

"I follow the course of a great Republican, Teddy Roosevelt, who talked about the malefactors of great wealth and gave us the estate tax. I oppose the rich passing on fortunes."

McCain yesterday:

"The estate tax is one of the most unfair tax laws on the books."

This of course compliments McCain's biggest tax flip flop. Back when he cared more about principle and less about winning elections, he was against the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy. Now he's for them, and more.

Former McCain flip-flops here and here.

Dare I hope this guy has no chance? I thought a used bedpan could win in 2004 against Bush, and flipped so much when he got a second term I got shingles.

But McCain has no shot, right?

"I thought a used bedpan could win in 2004 against Bush"

And I thought people would riot in the streets in 2000 when the SCOTUS got involved in state election law - they had no business in FLA.

Sorry to hear about the shingles - mine is more blood pressure but I can relate.

Obama is not up against McSame - he is against an election stealing machine.

We cannot lose sight of the fact that the GOP can wiretap and read all electronic communications of their opponents, they have Bush loyalists in all the US attorney offices, they have packed the federal bench and the SCOTUS, they have Diebold, ES&S and Sequoia evoting systems, they have push polling, caging lists, voter disenfranchisement and false voter challenges, they have new voter ID laws and a very cooperative M$M.

The fact is, if the GOP can't manage to steal the election they are worse off than we think.

UGH!

Yay McCain! He's right--the estate tax is super-unfair. It's only the rabble in the mobile populis that thinks otherwise.

Now excuse me, while I powder my wig.

McCain had a fundraiser in London held for him, which was hosted "by kind permission of Lord Rothschild OM GBE [Order of Merit and the Knight Grand Cross of the British Empire] and the Hon Nathaniel Rothschild." As the Washington Post reported, "Tickets to the invitation-only event cost $1,000 to $2,300."

McBush is McSame, who can't see anything wrong with his flip-flopping.

After all, McBush is too old to remember what he previously said, so whatever McSame says is all new to him each time. Whatever McBush said in the past is history and history of course is irrelevant to the conservative right wing extreme that he has chosen to follow.
