Clintonites Not Happy About This Patti Solis Doyle Thing

They are pissed. "It's a slap in the face"... "Who can blame Obama for rewarding Patti? He would never be the nominee without her"... "the biggest f**k you I have ever seen in politics."

This just deepens the questions I asked yesterday. Obama's decision to make PSD the eventual VP nominee's chief of staff is utterly, utterly confusing. His campaign has done much to court Clinton and her supporters since the end of the primaries, and he now praises Clinton regularly on the campaign trail. Hiring a staffer (specifically to that position) that Clinton broke with publicly and that Clintonites love to hate seems both graceless and politically stupid, two things Obama usually is not.

So did they think putting PSD in a senior spot would be a sop to the Clinton camp, only to have it backfire? Did they intend to stick a finger in Clinton's eye, hoping the press wouldn't notice? Did Clinton tell Obama in their private meeting at Diane Feinstein's house that she didn't want the VP slot, allowing Obama to put the best qualified person in the spot, regardless of past allegiances? Does the Obama campaign know that while many Clinton loyalists sneer at PSD, Clinton worked with her for 15 years and still feels a sense of attachment to her, and might be grateful that Obama offered her a chance to land on her feet?

This is the sort of ridiculous, uninformed, overstretched speculation you get when the chattering class is completely befuddled. It ain't pretty.

Maybe the choice has nothing to do with HRC.

I'm guessing BHO hired PSD for the same reason HRC did?

PSD has connections, and is a clearly capable CoS for the VP.

Further, I bet the VP choice has been made and that person had input - BHO is planning ahead - that is how he does things.

Should BHO have not hired the best person for the job just because it might make someone else mad?

That only makes sense if you are a Clintonista.

I know that Obama and HRC supporters are supposed to be on this whole unity kick, but can we PLEASE cut it out with the hysterics?

People were more than willing to point the finger at PSD for HRC's campaign troubles, but not only is that assessment unfair, it also let's other people off the hook who were equally at fault for major mistakes.

1) From what I have read, PSD has been involved in politics since her 20s and is very capable and competent, which is why HRC hired her 15 years ago in the first place.

2) A lot of people have observed that PSD was the fall guy for HRC's troubles, but she was merely executing Mark Penn's flawed strategy.

3) I think its interesting that a lot of female HRC supporterss legitimately (and at times, not so legitimately) discuss the sexism that HRC has endured in this campaign, but have no problem trashing a woman that was DOING HER JOB!!!!

4) Why doesn't anyone ever hold HRC accountable for anything? Why is she always painted as a victim? To me, that kind of sexism makes me more angry than anything stupid some of these pundits come up with. HRC is clearly brilliant and competent, and would have probably been a better President than WJC. So the fact that she had the full force of the Democratic party behind her at the beginning of the race, but pursued a strategy and tone that literally shot her in the foot after February is her fault. Stop making excuses. The woman knows how to handle her own, but she messed up by a) either not being involved enough in her own campaign strategy, or b) listening to Mark Penn too much without getting a second opinion.

3) Have people ever stopped and thought, Gee, Obama doesn't have some evil vendetta against HRC, he might be, you know, hiring people he thinks are capable of doing a good job. Everything is not about Hillary. PSD is smart, competent, already had connections with people in the Obama campaign, and is from Chicago. Relax and take a breath.

Of course their not happy. Patti Sollis Doyle has worked for the Clinton's for 20 yrs and many tales of Clinton's corrupt lifestyle are at risk, and they know this. Same thing with Richardson. They intimidate, threaten, abuse every single person leaving a campaign of hell. I am so excited about PSD, and wish her every happiness and success. Media will soon be free to 'call out' the Clinton era without this threat over their heads. I think Hillary will lose her senate seat next time round, hoping they both have to live in less modest surroundings, with less income and less political visibility. Go away Clinton Family....is the best thing to renew hope to America, that includes their buddies also the Bush's.

Let's turn the page and go on. Obama knows what he is doing and Clinton didn't or she would not have jumped to a conclusion and fired her long time employee.

It is good that we have turned the page because jumping to conclusions is not a good presidential trait.

The Clinton's did what they thought was best for them and that was their choice. Obama is the cream that rose to the top and has been chosen to do what is best for the country as a whole.

God be with Obama as he goes forth to take charge of the United States, our beloved country that has been given to Obama to heal. May God give Obama insight, wisdom, understanding and judgment beyond measure. In the name of Jesus.

This decision was no mistake and no one was trying hide what it could possibly mean. What Barack Obama is doing is offering Hillary a great opportunity to forgive and forget.
