Norm Coleman: Aw Shucks, I Have to Attend?
At least eight GOP senators have said they will not be attending the Republican convention in Minneapolis, and congressional challengers have officially been told by Republican leadership to stay away. But one man has to be there. Norm Coleman, the Republican senator from Minnesota locked in a reelection fight with Al Franken, can't ignore the party going on his backyard.
Oh, but how he wishes he could.
"So I think those who come here will have an extraordinary time. But the colleagues who don't come are staying at home only because they have tough races. If the convention wasn't in St. Paul, I wouldn't be at the convention," Coleman said.
H/T Ben Smith.

"IT RHYMES WITH FIRE"
David Corns article : "Why the press cant tell the truth about a president who didnt"
The reason is; Money. MOST of the white house press and mainstream media are too fat dumb and happy with their 6 figure jobs, to challenge the President.
Moreover, the networks and newspapers they work for, are owned by multi-Conglomerates who at one time or another have lobbied Washington for some type of favorable treatment. Also, network execs are terrified of offending sponsors, so they dare not tell the truth. So,why should any of them stick their necks out? We expect this from Fox News, (the Presidents mouthpiece)but its shameful that all the liberal press can do is apologize afterward.
They apologize after the lies have become so apparent that a 12 year old can look them up on factcheck.org. Are those days gone when an Edward R Murrow would give the American People straight talk into the camera.? Thankfully,no, all is not lost. I did say MOST of the mainstream media are guilty. There are some on air jounalists who always dare to tell the truth ; they are; KEITH OLBERMANN, CHRIS MATTHEWS and the late, TIM RUSSERT.This is why COUNTDOWN,HARDBALL AND MEET THE PRESS shared overwhelming ratings. This is why, went I want the truth, I will watch them. Why didnt your article mention those brave men?
McCain's polling is much higher than Bush's. I think that the Republican Convention will boost Coleman's score very effectively. Let's remember that McCain is closer to the center AND that there are scores of anti-Obama Democrats who may well let their presidential choice influence their congresionnal ones.
I didn't really see the connection between the post and the comment which I -- being female -- tend to disagree with. Olbermann, Russet and Matthews were all at turns sexist.
As for asking tough questions, I thought Russert was occasionally doing his job but -- unfortunately during that key period with Iraq before the war started-- he tended to lack the skepticism necessary to adequate reporting.
I prefer Scarborough on Morning Joe.

Olbermann yes, even if he went a bit overboard in criticism of Clinton. But Russert and Matthews? They have (had) an occasional moment, but Mathews is shallow and Russert's game was cheap gotcha questions. Though Kathy is right Chris, your comment has zip to do with the post.
On the actual subject, I can't believe Coleman said that. He's usually a slicker politician. That's why I never thought he would be easy to beat. I did notice that Franken moved up a lot in the SurveyUSA poll that keeps showing him way behind, and he's tied in the Rasmussen poll.
