How Obama Could Capture Hillary Voters: Answer the Obvious
Below is a guest blog entry by economist and MoJo author Nomi Prins:
Hillary Clinton's speech has been duly dissected. Bill's will be, too. But the DNC question still lingering for the PUMAs is: Why didn't Obama choose Clinton as his running mate? Dems would be naïve to suggest such people just 'get over it,' Hillary's verbal push not withstanding.
Love it or hate it, it's a valid question, particularly for the women who did and do identify with her. And it's a question that Obama needs to at least acknowledge, if not address.
Why? Because in the absence of a resounding statement from Camp Obama, the bloviosphere has filled in the gap with excuses like these: She's too divisive, he couldn't deal with Bill, the Clintons are too powerful, she wouldn't have wanted it anyway.
Whatever. A strong person campaigning for the most powerful office in the world should be able to answer difficult questions head on. With swing state voters, can Obama really afford to play the Hillary card so close to the vest?
There may be little Obama can, or feels he should, say on the matter. Some observers will argue that Biden's fine, and the Veep post isn't a deciding factor anyway. Those are presumptive thoughts in a dead heat.
The bottom line is this: Everyone knows someone who doesn't understand why Obama didn't choose Hillary. Until that question's answered, the DNC's usual pundits are missing a key conversation in Denver diners, playgrounds, hospitals, truck stops, and discount stores.

Nomi, what pops into my mind is that he is already facing the "issue" of "being black", the same way Hillary Clinton was facing "being a woman". We know its absurd, however, one administration taking on both those "issues" without actually "being the President" seems politically dangerous and like a move that could really leave US hanging in the balance (like were not already, i digress...). I mean, I love underdogs and feel what your saying but it just seems insane in the atmosphere of a very macho and very racist nation to want the first black president to run with the first woman veep. Seems like all the proverbial eggs in the basket, and we cant really afford to drop that basket right now.
Also, I dont understand what youre looking for in an answer out of him either since he does have the right to live autonomously towards the future and not experimentally in hypothetical scenarios.
Biden scares the angel orbs out of the warm pink center of the nation anyhow.
Some say that McCain can win with only 5% of Clinton's supporters. He'll get that many easily and probably even more because Obama is incapable of muzzling his bloggers and even a supposedly professional commentator like Caffery on CNN is losing votes for Obama with his talk of "rabid" Clinton supporters. The sexist trend is PART OF THE DEMOCRATIC PARTY. I don't think there is much Obama can do. After Gore and Kerry, I really hope that the Democratic Party is going to learn lesson this year. Otherwise, 2012 will be more of the same.

The answer is real easy. Hillary's Senate seat is important proably more then being VP. and the Dems would hard pressed to find a replacement. Joe Bidens experience on foriegn relations is perfect balance to what Obama is lacking, and would be easier to replace in Delaware politics.
