Sen. John McCain argued Wednesday that Americans need to get past Vietnam, spreading blame for the bitter political debate among both presidential candidates, a federal agency and a veterans group attacking Sen. John Kerry's combat record.
"I'm sick and tired of re-fighting the Vietnam War. And most importantly, I'm sick and tired of opening the wounds of the Vietnam War, which I've spent the last 30 years trying to heal," the Arizona Republican said at a lunch with USA TODAY and Gannett News Service. "It's offensive to me, and it's angering to me that we're doing this. It's time to move on."
I guess like so much else McCain says he didn't really mean it.
If his association with Ayers is so innocuous, why did Obama try to prevent that radio show in Chicago from airing instead of accepting the invitation of the radio show to send someone from his campaign to debate the matter. Just like his refusal to debate after being asked pointed questions at the last debate in Philadelphia. I see the same blind uncritical attitude on the part of his followers that got Bush in twice.

Because, Kathy, Obama's not stupid. He knows better than to get himself into a position where Fox and their ilk dictate the terms of the debate. If the opposition is going to stoop so low as, for example, to associate a harmless fist pump with a terrorist signal, why would you walk into their traps? If people can't see through such obvious manipulations, you might as well give up trying to change their minds. My man's got better things to do.
