ACORN's Wild Success Quantified

I'll have a lot more on this ACORN controversy in bit, but thought I'd point this out now. ACORN claims it has registered 1.3 million new voters this election cycle, mostly low-income people, people of color, and young people. On a conference call hosted by the Obama campaign today, campaign manager David Plouffe said the AP found 9 million newly registered voters across the whole country.

If these numbers are correct, a single organization has registered 15 percent of all new voters this election. That's a simply stunning number.

It is too bad that of the 1.3M new voters, 875,000 of them live between the pages of Marvel Comics.

Do you want dumb people deciding your life? Most of them have registered at least 10 times. What a fraud. Mickey Mouse tried to register to vote in Florida this summer.
Orange County elections officials rejected his application, which was stamped with the logo of the nonprofit group ACORN.

In Las Vegas, authorities said the group's petitions included the names of the starting lineup of the Dallas Cowboys.

ACORN's problems included applications with unreadable handwriting, missing information, signatures that didn't match those on file, altered dates of birth or Social Security numbers, applications for people already registered to vote and names that appeared repeatedly, often with different addresses.

I think it is so sad that our country has come to this point. CHEATING!!!!! is wrong no matter how you look at it. This is Florida all over again. There should be no companies such as ACORN. This would be the beginning of trying to get our elections back to the basic truth.

Great information for your readers just before the election. Have repubs forgotten the mess they created in Florida and Ohio? Do they really have a right to complain?

Of the 1.3 million registrations (this counts updated registrations where people have moved since their last registration), less than 1/10th of 1% were bad registrations - that's a pretty good quality standard. The ones that were bad (that ACORN is required by law to hand in to the various Boards of Elections), were flagged as such prior to being handed in, and the workers responsible fired. In the most egregious and obvious cases, the names and information of those responsible were offered and available for prosecution if necessary. If someone wants to be lazy and not do their job, especially in something as important as voting and getting people to the polls, they deserve to be prosecuted; however, some few bad workers should not paint the entire organization black.
