Responding to Obama's Win, Michael (Son of) Reagan Says, Go After Dems on Sex
The Obama win is driving some conservatives crazy. On Tuesday, Michael Reagan, talk show host and son of Ronald, sent out an email announcing a new outfit called Reagan Action, which among other things, will seek to "expose" the sexual "corruption" of leading Democrats. And he was characteristically over the top:
Dear Conservative Friend,
My father wasn't afraid to call evil what it was -- and neither am I. He defeated the "Evil Empire" called the Soviet Union -- but now we face a new "Evil Empire." It's called Socialism, and it's taken over our once-free nation through the victories of Obama, Pelosi and Reid.
We MUST do this. Really -- what choice do we have, except to fight back and WIN? As my father, President Ronald Reagan, once said, "We must act today in order to preserve tomorrow."
It's official: America has its first truly Socialist president... and it's the Republican Party's fault.
No, scratch that -- it's the so-called "leaders" of the GOP who are at fault for this humiliating defeat -- and I say it's time to name names and make heads roll in our party. Because, my fellow conservatives, we have been BETRAYED by the very people who promised that, if we would just elect them, they would get into office and vote OUR conservative values.
THEY LIED... THE GOP DIED.
Michael Reagan, who sure likes bold face and capital letters, notes that he is angry with President Bush and
the so-called "leaders" of our party, who promised us that if we'd just vote for who they put up for election, we'd finally get what we wanted: smaller government, lower taxes, dramatically lower spending, pro-life laws, pro-marriage constitutional amendments, pro-American economics... well, YOU AND I put them in power, and they gave us nothing but BIG GOVERNMENT, BIG DEFICITS, and LIBERAL COMPROMISES.
So what's he going to do about it? Reagan is declaring "the NEW Reagan Revolution to bring Conservatism BACK!" And how will contributing to Reagan Action--yes, this was a solicitation letter--bring back conservatism? This new group, Reagan promises, will
EXPOSE LIBERAL CORRUPTION-- With the Democrats back in power in both Congress and the White House, you KNOW that they'll be falling right back into their habits of taking lobbyists' money under the table, trading votes for campaign contributions, spying on and sabotaging Republican legislative plans, covering up their leaders' sexual "flings," and spending taxpayer money on personal expenses like never before. But this time, YOU AND I will be there every step of the way, making sure that no stone is left unturned, every dark corner is filled with light, and every illegal act is paid for with censure, impeachment, recalls, investigations, and jail time for every criminal we expose in Washington, D.C.
And Reagan will also be directing "Reagan Activists to "fill the news media with letters to the editor, guest editorials, and news articles detailing the socialistic and corrupt policies of the new liberal regime."
This is some effort he has planned--mounting an army of Reagan-loving volunteers to go up against the "evil" Obama administration and take the country back from the socialists. And Reagan is even willing to probe the sexual "flings" of Democrats.
Reality check: is the United States now a socialist state about to be headed by a socialist leader? (Let's leave aside the Wall Street bailout.) There are two explanations for Reagan's letter. (A) He's become totally unhinged by the Obama victory, and (B), he's crassly trying to squeeze whatever cash he can out of conservative donors by exploiting their ideological paranoia. Maybe the correct answer is all of the above.
Comments
Taking a look at the bold, the all caps, and generally poor layout of the writing, I begin to wonder if Michael Reagan and Bill Nigh are one and the same.
The sexual flings part is the best - because of course, NO Republican politician has ever been embroiled in any kind of sex scandal. Nope, never.

Reaganites and some neo-conservatives seem to think the american dream ended when their forefathers had a great idea and the resources to implement it, created a business and became insanely rich. All the while the employees are an esential component to the success of a business idea. Yet they are the most manipulated and squandered with no value placed on them other than an essential component to be tolerated until a computer can do the job. When I think of socialism I think of corporate tyranny being put in check. But who knows, all im saying is that in the past some poor became rich and so of those rich have not wanted others to experience the same.
Ronald Reagan was an actor for God's sake, since when did being an actor or even the son of an actor qualify you to lead? But then again it is the led that choose their leader. Just remember, everyone would like to be rich, but there are those who will intentionally keep people poor, and reap huge benefits doing it(Corporate administration can do just about anything with impunity to their employees). There are people who view you as less than human for not being rich. Think about it.
Having said that, there are some very caring and compassionate rich people in this world as well.

And since we are on the topic of being watchdogs (sort of), why don't we start punishing those who already deserve it? Like say...starting with G.W. Bush? We can try him and punish him for war crimes. And we can try Cheney while we are at it for trying to run the country for his wallets benefit.

I recently received an e-mail from a friend who has been absorbed into the Borg that is the Republican Party. Here is the text of what she sent me:
======================================================
I have always heard about this democracy countdown. It is interesting to see it in print. God help us, not that we deserve it.
How Long Do We Have?
About the time our original thirteen states adopted their new constitution in 1787, Alexander Tyler, a Scottish history professor at the University of Edinburgh, had this to say about the fall of the Athenian Republic some 2,000 years earlier:
'A democracy is always temporary in anture; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government.'
'A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury.'
'From that moment on, the majority always vote for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury,
with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship.'
'The average age of the world's greatest civilizations from the beginning of history, has been about 200 years'
'During those 200 years, those nations always progressed through the following sequence:
1. from bondage to spiritual faith;
2. from spiritual faith to great courage;
3. from courage to liberty;
4. from liberty to abundance;
5. from abundance to complacency;
6. from complacency to apathy;
7. from apathy to dependence;
8. from dependence back into bondage'
Professor Joseph Olson of Hemline University School of Law, St. Paul , Minnesota , points out some interesting facts concerning the 2000
Presidential election:
Number of States won by: Democrats: 19 Republicans: 29
Square miles of land won by: Democrats: 580,000 Republicans: 2,427,000
Population of counties won by: Democrats: 127 million Republicans: 143 million
Murder rate per 100,000 residents in counties won by: Democrats: 13.2 Republicans: 2.1
Professor Olson adds: 'In aggregate, the map of the territory Republican won was mostly the land owned by the taxpaying citizens of this great country.
Democrat territory mostly encompassed those citizens living in government-owned tenements and living off various forms of government welfare...'
Olson believes the United States is now somewhere between the 'complacency and apathy' phase of Professor Tyler's definition of democracy, with some
forty percent of the nation's population already having reached the 'governmental dependency' phase.
If Congress grants amnesty and citizenship to twenty million criminal invaders called illegal's and they vote, then we can say goodbye to the
USA in fewer than five years.
If you are in favor of this, then by all means, delete this message. If you are not, then pass this along to help everyone realize just how much
is at stake, knowing that apathy is the greatest danger to our freedom.
WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, ONLY BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE
================================
Update....
After another friend attempted to discredit this by pointing out a Snopes article the original friend sent back a very nasty post that ended with -- "I kid you not" ---a smiley face. This was from a very bright woman with a professional career. She lives in a formerly red state that was won by Obama. Be warned, this kind of crap is going around to your friends and relatives. Please Democrats, zip your pants and take the threat of sex scandals seriously, because they're easy to understand. Compare it to the difficulty of tracking down and explaining to the public the typical financial or abuse of power scandal. Tim Mahoney's affairs are easy to explain. Try explaining what Ted Stevens was convicted for, what Norm Coleman is suspected of, or why it's such a big deal to go after the bushies e-mails.
Which is more serious should be clear, but sex scandals don't ask the press or public to think.

Let's get real about what people like him an other right wing talk radio and TV nuts are doing. They tried and FAILED MISERABLY to control the vote and elect one of their own and now they don't look too good in the eyes of their followers.
When a person loses a point in an argument they either have to walk away and say nothing, continue to argue their side although they know they've lost or, and we all know people like this, get louder more threatening and try to claim respect by yelling at a louder volume. After the volume is raised the next strategy is to plan revenge to recapture the argument and convince us that they were right all along. Name calling and conspiracy theories are usually next. In this case "socialist" and a plot to make the US a socialist state and an action committee to do their bidding. (Normally at least in most of the world the word 'socialist' does not carry a negative connotation, but in the US it has a devastatingly negative effect on the population)(cold war brain washing by US politicians)
It is almost impossible for those of us who think left of centre to imagine why anybody in their right mind would want to support or try to replay last regime in the white house, but that's their job, it pays very well and they have the knowlege that they can influence people who don't think things through...the Joe the plumber types, there's a lot of power there and that is what many people on both sides of the political spectrum strive for.
As in the election, calm voices of reason will prevail if they are spoken OFTEN enough and the TRUTH be told.
