Victory on Capitol Hill: Waxman Takes House Energy Committee
Huge news. Great news. Michigan Representative John Dingell, who has spent over 50 years in the House of Representatives being the auto industry's babysitter, has lost his position as chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee to the younger and more liberal Henry Waxman. The House Democratic caucus voted by secret ballot this morning. Members had a choice between voting for seniority or the possibility of bold and necessary action on climate change. They made the right choice, 137-122.

Huray!
As everyone scurries like mice around the Clinton circus, it's a relief to see someone in the media point out what is, far and away, the most significant indicator of the direction of Democratic leadership over the next Congressional session.
Cheers!

YESSSSSSSS!!
Finally a politician with the balls to do the right thing. If you're going to have a dinosaur like Dingell in charge of such an important committee, then you might as well have voted for Grandpa McCain.
We need some progressive minds for 21st century problems with 21st century solutions!
I will never forget how Waxman nailed the "7 Dwarfs" from the major tobacco companies to the cross when each of them claimed that cigarettes were NOT addictive! I'm not kidding..........they actually said that under oath! The real "kicker" was when they had one of their paid "scientific experts" explain that cigarettes were addictive like ice-cream was addictive. You might really DESIRE ice-cream, but you didn't REALLY need it! It was hilarious.
Go get 'em Henry!
