US soldiers would just complicate the situation more. it is an oil-rich region and that would soon become the main objective. and how are the refugees who are being attacked the ones who are sinning? that kind of paternalism helps no one. if you want to help them, actually take action. lobby the government for aid! send them some food!!! or if you dont know how, donate to someone so they can!!

As I was reading I noticed two main suggestions: 1. send more troops in, and 2. send more money in. I don't think either of those suggestions would work. The situation is caused by greed. The rebels and those causing the turmoil want to have the power for themselves. Sending more money into the region will do very little in the long run, and a good portion of it will never reach the people. More troops would bring a bit more stability, however, this too would do absolutely nothing for fixing the problem. What really needs to happen is that God would change their hearts, and they would learn to love each other as God commanded us through His Son. This is the only hope for true lasting change in Darfur.

First, the world--the US, but also Europe and the rest--have to live up to their commitments to provide logistic aid to the African Union peacekeeping mission. Had all of the churches and people who proclaim themselves "pro life" spend an eigth of the energy on the living in Darfur as they do on worrying about zygotes, the politicians in the various countries would've listened, the AU force would be in far better shape, and we wouldn't have the ramped up violence. Part of the problem is also the distractibility of all of us--how many of the writers here kept Darfur on their front burner during all of the last year--I know I didn't. That's why and how genocides happen in part--the world becomes a giant ADD case, and so do we all. So let's focus--write not only your congressperson but religious leaders.
Or just sit back and slag each other.

America's structures are of "Western Culture". Your Congress, your lobbying groups, your free speech, and the way ordinary Americans either get involved or ignore politics are peculiarly your "Western Culture", not the way most of the world operates. But the fact that only about a third of Americans deem it important to vote is horrifying in light of how close you are to losing your Western character.

Writing letters to the press, manning stands at county fairs, hosting fund-raising dinners, attending rallies, setting up conferences, writing your Congressman -- that is what you know, and what you are comfortable with. Those are the political methods you've created for yourselves to keep your country on track and to ensure political accountability,with freedom and justice for all.

It is an outrage how the International Community is letting the horror of this conflict drag for so long. During the trials of Nuremberg, the Prosecutor was appalled at the lack of remorse by the Nazi officers. He asked himself if they were evil, and "What is evil?". He concluded that "Evil is the lack of empathy for the suffering of other human beings". Here lies the great tragedy of the human race. We forget that we are all related, bonded by the Universal Creator, and Mother Earth. Now is the time to raise one's consciousness, awareness, and to care for our fellow human beings by fighting the tactics of the "Kingpins" of fear and selfishness". Protest against the complicity of China which supplies the Sudanese Government with ammunition and weapons, and exerts great influence over these rogue states such as the Military Junta of Myanmar. Raise a public outcry to the European Community and the United Nations which are run by bureaucrats who do not have emotional intelligence, and therefore inefficient in the position of leaders of International Organizations. Real human intelligence is one that cares for others, feels empathy and tries to correct what is wrong. The world needs leaders that are not empty "eggshells", automatons, serving the Prince of Darkness, but instead must serve the community, the wellbeing of Nations and the wellbeing of planet Earth. The world does not need military empires, for they are vehicles by tyrants to manipulate, control, and abuse humanity. The world is sick and tired of these primitive, and barbaric leaders who only obey their own egoism such as Hitler, Stalin, Mao Tse Tung, Saddam Hussein, Suharto, and so on. They behave as if they were imortal but they are already gone and according to the Universal Law of Retributation they will have much to account for. Therefore do not tolerate abuses of any kind, but stand up fearlessly against heartless, irresponsible, selfish leaders, and bring justice to the world.
