I just viewed a sad story of two Brits caught with luggage full of cocaine. I would like to find out their addresses at the Mexician prisions where they will be spending the next few years. Pehaps a penpal would help to pass the time. My email is lilirope52@hotmail.com if you are allowed to forward the addresses of Lucy Baker and/or Scott Campbell I would try to keep their spirits up with a friendly correspondence. Thanks, Phyllis Callahan

I found the address for Lucy Baker! It took a while, but I finally found the address at this official Mexico prison link: www.reclusorios.df.gob.mx/. The address is:Centro Femenil de Readaptación Social Santa Martha Acatitla/Calzada Ermita Iztapalapa s/n, Colonia Santa Martha Acatitla. The "s/n" in the address means "whitout number."

Does anyone know if they still keep in touch? I would be disappointed to find out that after going through that together they had to draw a line under everything?

I thought the programme would have commented on their "relationship" these days... i hope they catch up on it next year when they transfer back to UK

Oh the pleasure of an unread book
Savouring its unread look
Don't want to start, cause I know I'll finish
And then the pleasure will diminish
English books in Mexico
Are a rarity you know
Treated like gold dust, smuggled, contraband
For us locked up Brits in this far away land.

It makes no difference if a book has spice
If you have read it more than twice
I know what happens it's not fair
Only the first time I could actually care
In England I would shun romance
But in here it's got more than a chance
Murder and mystery are my usual choice
But now every book has a voice
So please I'm begging 'release me soon'
Before I start enjoying Mills & Boon.

people can make bad mistakes but after tossing the coin and seeing it go against them and still decide to go through with it you have to do the time if you're willing to commit the crime!

If we had people smuggling drugs into our country for whatever reason i know we'd all have something to say about it...

Fair enough you make a mistake for whatever reason, i do feel for them all out there on their own but surely they took that chance knowing it was a possible outcome
Posted by:StephJune 6, 2008 8:20:04 AMRespond ^
I agree totally about your comment. Let's hope that they have learned a lesson. One can only hope from this that somebody else will think twice before commiting this senseless crime. I just wanted to know if there was an address in English that I could send a letter?

And you never made a mistake?? Give these kids a break! I hope that they survive the results of their mistake without any lasting scars.
Posted by:BarryJune 16, 2008 4:30:25 AMRespond ^
There's a big difference between making a simple mistake and smuggling drugs which if we all keep in mind, they knew they would be doing!!

Not only were they aware of the consequences should they get caught (most likely given everything gets x-rayed) but instead of living a normal life and facing the fact they'd have to come home and get a normal job in the rain - (like the majority of us) they actually let greed take over and decided to have a holiday of a lifetime at no expense on the condition they smuggled these drugs!

Yeah, it's a shame they were done over but you can't feel too sorry for them! They knew what they were getting themselves into from the get go, hash or coke it's all illegal at the end of the day!!

MRS. CATHERINE, I'm from Brazil and I also saw the documentary about ur daughter...I'm extremely touched by the story and, reading her poems, I realized I have one thing I can do to make her days there less hard and sad. I'm musician, and if you (or she) give me permission, I can transform her poem bellow in a strong song, record it and send u by e-mail. After that, u can send her it in a CD through the post office. Chords will give life for her feelings, her verses, and It will help to make she knows she is not forgotten. I want to give my contribuition, and this is the way I found to make her smile grows up, at least for some moments.
Please, this is my e-mail, I will wait for ur reply

Firstly Larry, if you read what i've written you will see that i say that yes, it is a shame for them.

If you watched the programme you can see they fully understood what it was they were doing. If you speed and get caught, points on your license are the result.... you smuggle drugs in a foregin country you go to jail... that happens in any country!

You can't judge me as you don't know anything about me... i'm not on here asking for their contact details cause at they end of the day, although they've done wrong... they're still humans and why would they want to hear from total randoms?!

If they had managed to pull it off who is to say they wouldn't have enjoyed that buzz and done it again?!

I def take the view that they deserved to get caught...

What happens to child porn rings, is it a shame that they get caught and have to serve time in jail Larry?

I know it is hard but she will make it. I spent 4 years in Santa Marta in the 70s along with 40 other American women but we did survive. We had a reunion in San Fransisco 20 years after our release on the prisnor exchange. We are all still friends and doing great. We learned our lesson well and never got in trouble again. Best wishes to your daughter and to you. Let me know if there is anything I can do to help you.

Steph, here in America and other countries, people have gotten FAR LESS time for similar if not worse crimes. People in the same show that were documented got 4,5,6 years. This was one of the heavier ones. With that said, it's common sense that what they were doing was illegal, but comparing it to child porn? Moronic.
Posted by:DebraJuly 2, 2008 1:50:00 PMRespond ^
Yeah, it was a bit extreme Debra, it just annoys me when other people I.E Larry, compare speeding to smuggling drugs... as another person commented, you learn your lesson by doing something silly so the time might be a bit harsh but when they get back to the UK it should get a bit easier for them. Mexican law is far different from most other countries but there was always that risk they were aware of.

They seemed to be keeping strong and coping the best they could so i think it's def something they've come to terms with!

Yeah Steph i was comparing speeding to drug smuggleing. You really can take a statement simply about feeling bad for anyone in a bad spot and managed to get porn into the conversation. Now you equate child porn to drug smuggleing after accusing me of comparing speeding to drug smuggleing. Secondly Steph,Anyone who harms a child intentionally for there own perverse pleasure belongs in prison"forever".We were not discussing that issue. Thirdly, some people i'm sure you repect smuggled death,I.E.;Reagan,Bush 1,and Ollie North.Lets not forget the elder Kennedy and his explots, and oh, Baby Bush .Our own goverment smuggled drugs into this country (lots more than 17 kilos)and not one of them are sitting in a Mexican prison.Does that not offend you? I bet you've not thought much about these offenders even tho thousands of people were killed by their deeds. And don't tell me that drugs kill many more than that, drugs are a personal choice. Not a wise one ,but one all the same.
Weapons of death being smuggled into someones country is probably not high on your list of things to rail about. An how about senting people to there deaths on a lie. From the beginning of our discussions i have never condoned what they did.You on the other hand have railed against these two as if they have have offended you personally.Where's your indignity on issues of life and death? Issues that really mean something ? I wish you'd turn your convictions onto a issue much more deserving of your anger.Regardless of what you think personally about these two people it does not amount to a hill of beans compared to real world issues. An yes Steph some of us are still in touch with the real world and get upset at real issues. Then if we have any feelings left we try to encourage other to find there way.If you have any you can contact me personally and tell me about them so that your fans won't know. Steph ,I believe in truth(as Scott and Lucy have admitted there deeds)and bared there mistakes for all to see.Now get your foot off their necks and let them up.At least they are paying for their misdeeds.Your Friend ,Larry

Maybe time to get over yourself Larry?

I'm not here to argue, if you want to continue it off here however, that's your decision...

I don't really feel anything for them, you don't know them, where they've been or what they've done... they weren't in a tight spot whatsoever, they had to decide between getting a job and moving home or that, they have admitted they knew what they were getting into so why discuss that, they've already served the majority of their time and the chances are, when they come back to the UK they'll be released early...

You can say what you like about me as again, you don't know the first thing about me, only what's been said on this. If we judge people on that alone then maybe look back at your own comments?

I wont be commenting on anything else now, your comments have made me realise that people posting comments on forums like this are all attention seeking nomads looking for acceptance or silly arguements to pass their time... for anyone look for their addresses, maybe read it on the comments above instead of asking again... Larry, go find some other fool to go round in circle with!
