A modern sculpture greets visitors at gates of Reactor No. 4, where the worst nuclear accident in history occurred on April 26, 1986. The shapes are meant to be mushrooms, a staple of the region. Reactor No. 4 has been encased in a concrete "sarcophagus" to contain radioactive material. Unfortunately, the structure was hastily built and is in danger of collapsing.
