When I think about myself being in wartime, right in the thick of things, I expect few of these fine men think about their health, when there is the possibility of catching a hot death any time of the day or night! War seems to me, to be one of those things that brings out the stupidity in us all, and so at the front, there would be so much more of it! Stop smoking at home, and cut the caffeine level down slowly, when I get back home!

And just think, what these soldiers want is so little for what they give to their country, and McCain doesn't even want to give them credit period for anything. McCain wants to be a 'mommys boy', and most of all a 'hero', so he trashs vet's to be the only hero in American history. McCain really does need a senior's plan that will treat him for dementia.

Nothing ever really changes for a soldier. When I think of my own service overseas so long ago, and how the "ration" of cigarettes was 8 cartons a month as well as how the coffee pot was never allowed to be empty It makes me muse that the caffeine comes more often cold these days. It is kinda silly to tell a guy dodging bullets not to smoke 'cause he might die. It sure does look like todays GI drinks less booze though...

gee, I guess that means that its okay for the US military to PRIVATIZE the supply of these products... charge 'em for their FOOD ...

AND REMOVE THEIR ABILITY TO HAVE SEX WITH ONE ANOTHER OR USE PORNOGRAPHY...

because if its one thing Republicans love, its criminalizing VICE... that's for the ELITE to enjoy!

from an excellent book on our troops in iraq RULE NUMBER TWO: " what do you call a soldier in iraq, who smokes 2 packs of cigarettes a day and worries about getting lung cancer?" an optimist.

We must bring our soldiers home. This entire war was unecessary and waged by evil motivation to gain wealth in exchange for lives and broken families. Our precious youth belongs back in the arms of their families. Our mentally and physically wounded deserve the best care for as long as they need it. We can't expect the Republicans to provide for those needs. Vote Democratic in November. God bless the troops and God bless America.

Tobacco use actually aggravates aggression, depression and anxiety. The addiction carries over into disability in the vast majority of those who come home, and their families suffer accordingly.

I agree with AbExtra. Our men and women in the military are neither war mongers nor victims. They are strong, smart, brave and motivated individuals who serve because they love their country and want to do something worthwhile with their lives.

These good soldiers deserve better leadership in the White House than what they've been getting. Seems to me that smart, fearless journalists would realize this need and focus on it, rather than publishing inane trivia like this.

Yea BlueBerry pick'n only the republicans tax vice and are against this right? Explain how so many cities use "sin" tax on alcohol and tobacco to finance new sports stadiums, then employ minorities and minimum wage. I know the republicans are evil and the democrats are good. Can you be more original.
