Alaskans pay more for their drugs than the residents of any other state. West Virginians pay far less. But, because the residents of West Virginia take far more prescription drugs than their Alaskan cousins, per-capita spending on prescription drugs in West Virginia is among the highest in the nation. When it comes to figuring out which Americans are paying the most, per-pill costs are only the beginning of the story.
