Mother Jones 400
April 1996

49. Edgar Bronfman Jr.

Age: 40
State and Town New York, N.Y.
Total Donated $154,500.
Party D

Bronfman is CEO of alcohol distributor Seagram. He engineered the company's huge recent investments in MCA and Time Warner, and a distribution deal with the Geffen (#13), Spielberg (#19), and Katzenberg (#51) outfit, DreamWorks SKG. The GOP-proposed telecommunications bill could safeguard Seagram's recent media ventures from federal probing. But the Bronfman family is traditionally Democratic and pro-Israel.
