Search Itemized Contributions
Given by the 1997 MoJo 400

Here's where you can really dig around in our database of the 1997 MoJo 400 and their itemized campaign contributions made during the 1995-1996 election cycle.

Find out which companies seem to be doing really well -- like Goldman Sachs & Co., which had four affiliates make the list. Or see just how many donations originated from the big names in the 90210 zip code. Even combine searches to see, for example, which New Yorkers contributed more than $50,000 in a single donation.

Remember that the maximum amount that any individual donor may give to a candidate is $1,000 in the primary and $1,000 in the general election. Donors get around this by giving huge amounts of "soft money" to the parties themselves. So, for the big money, don't search for "Clinton" or "Dole" in the recipient category. Search for "Democratic National Committee" or "Republican National Committee" instead.

Read our search tips for more hints on effective searching. And don't forget Rule #1: This is a big database. It may take a little time to retrieve data from your search.

Search Tips:

  • Please note that names as reported to the Federal Election Commission (FEC) are not necessarily consistent. To get the most hits, use the shortest, most general versions of donor and employer name(s).
  • To search for contributions on one specific day, enter that date in both fields of the date range.
  • To search for contributions greater than a certain amount, enter the amount without the '$' (dollar sign) and ',' (comma) characters.

The individual contributions are FEC data compiled by the Center for Responsive Politics, a nonpartisan research group in Washington, D.C. Industry affiliations were also provided by CRP.
