Alan Keyes
Alan Keyes is a robot--programmed and powered by the religious right. His list of pet issues reads like the platform of the Christian Coalition: outlawing abortion, introducing government subsidies for parochial schools, granting communities more control over education.
Interesting that Keyes is the nominee of choice for a bunch of white evangelical types. He's the first black to seek the GOP presidential nod, and he's Catholic. But when he takes the stump (Alan is the most eloquent speaker in the race) Christian Coalition members start to nod and shout, "Amen!"
But Keyes doesn't have a prayer to win the GOP nomination. But what he can do, and is doing, is force the issue of abortion onto the plate of every Republican hopeful. Like it or not, to steal Keyes' votes, moderates like Bob Dole will have to come on like strong pro-lifers.

Great thinking. Heh, heh. Let's bankrupt the country. Heh, heh. Read this and other pearls on Keyes' "Right Side of the Web" site.
