By now anyone with a political pulse knows that in 1995 and 1996 the First and Second Couples hosted over 100 White House "coffees," informal schmooze sessions with the cream of American business and society, along with some noted undesirables. By happy coincidence, these guests lavished $27 million on the Democratic National Committee (DNC); now House and Senate investigations are looking at whether the Democrats illegally sold access to the president.

In the spirit of public disclosure and plain hellraising, the MoJo Wire presents: the searchable White House coffees. Find out who was invited to rub elbows and sip java with the Clintons and Gores: Illegal campaign contributors? Chinese arms merchants? Twice-convicted felons? Yes, yes and yes...

Search Tips:

  • To search for coffees on one specific day, enter that date in both fields of the date range.
  • For more hits when searching by employer, try searching for acronyms with and without using periods.
  • To search for residences in a specific state, enter the two letter state abreviation and check the "Case Sensitive?" check box.
  • To search for residences outside the U.S.A., enter "xx" in the residence field.
  • Note on coffee hosts: Al Gore was a guest at a number of the coffees that Clinton hosted. Enter Gore's name in the Invitee field to see which ones.
  • Note on coffee locations: The acronyms OEOB and NAVOBS stand for Old Executive Office Building and Naval Observatory, respectively.
