Thousands of people gathered in downtown, answering Occupy Oakland's call for a general strike. Protesters marched to the Port of Oakland with the goal of shutting down the Port—not letting any cargo enter or leave. After gathering at one of the Port's main entrances, protesters marched throughout the Port, leaving small groups behind, blocking each terminal entrance. Aside from a late incident of an irritated driver hitting two protesters, it was a peaceful march, with the police, for the most part, staying out of sight.
