The appeal of this photo comes from numerous sources for the eye to ingest:

  • the action angles that her hair provides with its spikes, curves, various lengths, and subdued blue accents;

  • the thickness of her black lashes;

  • the curved jaw line angled perfectly with the crystals that hang from her hair... parallel to the earrings hanging from her ears;

  • perfect nose & lips with a nice length of space along her chin;

  • the black background with just the right amount of black space surrounding keeps the viewer's eyes on the subject -- not drawing them into the empty space;

  • the deep sapphire blue of the dress and the deep red bead at her neck provide a healthy splash of color -- to draw the eyes in to other hints of color at the bracelets & the star(?) in her hands -- to an otherwise black & white subject...

A great costume and great photography. Good choice. Well done.

That's supposed to be Shiva?

Amano-style Shiva, I'm guessing. This is the only one out of the lot that isn't painful for me to look at.

This is the best of the bunch. I like the natural pose of the subject. But the lighting in all of these photographs are really flat, bland and uninteresting.

It seems you could have done a whole lot more with the lighting. Especially considering you were working with a black backdrop. I know some may say "but the photographer was going for a Richard Avedon "In the American West" look. But those subjects seemed to "bare their souls" in those photos. And the subject matter was a little more serious.

What if the photographer were to have placed the subjects in their home/work enviroments. Now that could have been really interesting!! I would LOVE to see where these people live and/or work.

Is she covered in hoarfrost? There's a haze on her arms and shoulders and it looks like fur on her forearm. An ice queen?

How beautiful is she? I mean, really, can it get any better? Very rarely, I say.
BEAUTIFUL!!!
