Cosplay isn't a pageant to show off what wonderful genes you inherited. It's paying tribute to an artistic genre that only exists because of alot of incredibly dedicated hard work.
Anime is minutes of illustration brought to life through millions of hand painted pictures.
Inspired by that, cosplayers spend countless hours of their all-too-precious free time crafting the emblems of their heroes.
Every one of these brave people should have been asked, "Show the camera how happy your favorite shows have made you, as they have millions of others."
These photos failed to convey the joy and exhuberance of the cosplayers. I see them at conventions and they're often overflowing with poise-- they glow with the wild unfettered honest joy of the typical cosplayer.
It's something I've often wished I could show to others.
Haha, I know this guy... I met him wearing that same cosplay at ACen in 200..3 ?
I was Kobu and he was Tanaka. It's not from the old gundam series, it's a bad cosplay on the head on purpose to show that he is cosplaying. This character comes from Otaku no Video, it's a video about anime fans. And it is wicked old, like 1985, 86.

Just plain sad. Where's the utility belt with fried chicken drumstick attachments?

This is vulnerable, all right. Bravo for having the cajones to wear something so Un-Mainstream!
(p.s. "Anonymous", you suck.)

That costume reeeaally doesn't fit very well. It wouldn't be quite that awful if it was made better

Out of all the costumes featured here, this is probably the only one that's PERFECT.

I'm sorry, but I think these photos are horrible.
Trying to 'looking vulnerable' is, itself, a disingenuous act. It isn't honest, it is, itself, a pretense. Nastassja Kinski made millions by "looking vulnerable". http://www.geocities.com/nastassjakinski2/pictures3.html

You said it thinkfest. At least try to be humorous if you're going for ironic.
Instead you're just going for flat out depressing
