Obama has been repeating his 2002 opposion to the Iraq war to trump up his better judgement. As he was not in the Senate at that time, his opposition was not based on access to detailed intelligence information. In September 2003, when he was running for Senate, he had urged Congress to delay the $87 billion war funding for Iraq until President Bush "provides a specific plan and timetable for ending the the U.S. occupation." Later, in November 2003, when he was asked whether he would have voted for the war funding of $87 billion, he had said no unequivocally, adding "at some point we have to say no to George Bush. If we keep on getting steamrolled, we are not going to stand a chance." However, after coming to the Senate in 2005,he has been continually voting for war funding even when the Senate Democrats have failed in their attempt to attach conditions and timetable to that funding. The above facts reveal inconsistencies in the positions taken by Obama. Having called the Iraq war a "dumb war," he did not follow up his strong opposition to the war by voting in the Senate against war funding requests by Pressident Bush.

Despite his efforts the war began. He was able to recognize that even though he did not agree with the war, it had been started and could not just stop one day. The war effort needed money in order for it to not be drawn out.

Interesting man for our new president.... From the very very bottom of the barrel with Bush to pretty darned top drawer with Mr. Obama. Lord, it's hard to think how we threw the last 8 years away!
