Caring For Lilbit
Ms. Ruth changes her daughter's IV fluids. "They said she wouldn’t live for more than three months. I refused to leave her in the hospital, so I took her home." Caring for her daughter Lilbit is a full time job. Ms. Ruth rarely leaves the house; she spends most of her time sewing and taking care of her daughter and her animals. Continue »

This is a good photo in as much as the impartiality of the journalist. Good job on that note, yet it is an essay about someone that harbors an unacceptable philosophy of violence. and, I fear the tone is so benign it quite possibly renders itself propaganda for recruitment.

Ms. Ruth must have had a very hard life. At 57 she looks like she's about 80.

The way I look at people of this nature is the way I look at people that aide in any crime. You may not be the one that pulled the trigger, but you stood there and watched the crime. You are gaining monetarily in fostering hate all over our country. Money makes us do terrible things. How unfortunate for this old lady and her household that this is the way they choose to earn money. I hope that God is working on this house.

Hmmm... maybe if she got rid of all the damned animals, she wouldn't have to sew hate wear to survive. Even better, she could get off the government dole that they accuse all the minorities of sucking off of.

I wonder if the Klan knows she has a disabled daughter, someone that they'd refer to as a "surplus white"?

The web is an amazing place. I have been able to view life in the United States from afar, in a way I would never have been able to do otherwise. Had I personally tried to talk to Ms Ruth, she would have detected my distaste of what she had to say immediately, and I would never have been able to hear her out. If she lived in Canada, her expenses for her handicapped daughter would be covered by the tax money we all pay, and she wouldn't have to do so much sewing. But maybe she is proud of what she does?

Marianne, thank you for your thoughtful comments. I've been distressed by some (much!) of what I've read in the comments, and I appreciated yours very much.

I'm just so torn about this - I don't live in the states anymore, but I'm an American. Where I live the government would never allow a person in her daughters condition to live in such a state. It stuns me that the health care system in the states has deteriorated to this point. And even funnier, when I encounter fellow Americans on vacations they're always stunned that I really don't have to wait weeks for doctors appointments... the propaganda machine at work. I think if Americans knew what health care was like in other countries there would be a revolution. Back to the point... I see this woman struggling to care for her daughter by propagating evil. She doesn't want to loose her government money (which is probably a pittance anyway) but she supplements her income by outfitting a group that would just as soon see her child dead.
I guess in the end this just makes me sad.
