This is an important piece. We, as White Nationalist, are real people, and as American as apple pie.

hilarious. You people are so dumb, ignorant, and backward. You contribute nothing to the advancement of man-kind.. and deep inside you know its true, for as long as you keep touting your knuckle-dragging beliefs, you will remain in a cultural black-hole.

There is now "white nation". Whiteness is a historical cultural construct: every ethnicity that now calls itself white has sold its specific genealogy and traditions for a chance to be part of a new majority (i.e. white) in the new world. These 'white nationalists' create silly new traditions as a reaction to the fact that their own ancestors abandoned their family histories.

If this lady is their ideal white purebred, these idiots have some serious beer goggles strapped on.

I wouldn't say you were as American as 'apple pie', so much as you're as American as a rapacious gangster who murders for power, or a sanctimonious televangelist who misleads and cheats their followers for money...yeah, that's more like the America I would associate with you. Stop deluding yourself, please. Every nation has it's dark side, you and your organization make up a pretty huge slice of America's.

Mr Badge, this is not what America was designed to stand for. Jamestown settlers were FLEEING this mindset. The American Revolution was all about backlash against oppressive ideology that tried to enslave others who were not in their group. Aren't Klan members meeting to drive out other people who aren't like them, or "in their group" also? I have actually met a few Klans people here in Tuscaloosa--one even showed me his robe. Without exception they have this underlying resentment, that no-doubt originates from a feeling of inadequacy. These are the people who feel unaccepted, and in the Klan they can find a place to not only feel accepted, but also to create an illusion of being "better" than someone else.

Wow! You make it sound like their membership in the Klan is akin to group therapy at the psychiatrist's office ! No, my dear, it's not just a place where they can be nearer their "inner self". The Klan is a cruel, hate-filled organization aimed at persecuting blacks and anyone else who is not white anglo-saxon protestant like they are. If you had lived during the 60's and had witnessed the terror caused by this group you would stay as far away from a Tuscaloosan Klan member as possible - be you black, white, or hispanic!

Who is this "photojournalist"? MJ needs to add a caveat to this peace. Negotiating and questioning the limits of tolerance is good (I think this guy can say whatever he wants) but Mother Jones needs to add a frame to this or it is jeopardizing some serious credibility and showing considerable insensitivity.

Apple pie isn't American, it's English, and neither are any of the Klan members... unless they're descendents of American Indians.

If you think about it, the klan probably hates other cultures because its members lack one.

Oh, you're not serious! You think the American Revolution was about slavery?? Check out your history facts!!

Sometimes the only thing more funny then groups like the KKK and the Black Panthers is the liberal minded people who preach tolerance to all in one sentance yet condemn others for not being tolerant enough. The south has their KKK, it's quite true, but the north has their skinheads as well. Neither side is without fault.
