Photo Essay: Phone Sex Operators: World's Strongest Woman. Photo 10 of 10

Gary was watching a “World's Strongest Women" show and saw a woman pick up a motorcycle.

'Oh, I could do that,' I said.

'Could you?' he responded, breathless. 'Oh my god...I'd like to see you lift up my girlfriend's car.'

'What kind of car does she have?'

'A Mazda Miata.'

A part of me may miss getting paid for this when I move on.

Thank you for this article - I can't wait to get the book now! I worked both ends of phone sex - as a billing operator and as an entertainer, and there are worse ways to make money than talking on the phone all day. It's definitely safe sex!

Thank you for a lovely piece -- and for bringing out the humor and compassion and beauty of these phone sex operators. Aural sex really does tune us into our bodies and brains in a unique way.

Great piece, but I must note that the picture chosen was of the most stereotypically attractive of the people interviewed, the closest to the people in the phone sex ads. Sadly, it was probably the only logical choice for getting clicks.

This caption comes closest to reflecting my experience as a phone sex operator. I can be anyone over the phone- it's acting at it's purest, because the anonymity allows me to be completely uninhibited. Yep, I love my job.

This photo essay and book is such a load of crock. You can tell the interviewer was leading the people he interviewed to say positive things. When is someone going to write a book exposing the ugly truths of this industry. They pay these people peanuts---literally pennies per minue to take call after call of weirdos and people who want to degrade women. They get paid according to how long they keep the wankers on the phone. And most guys want to jerk off in like one minute flat and say the most disguting things. There is nothing noble about phone sex industry.

I love your phone sex article. The pictures are very tasteful.

Wow great site.

I think the photo essay turned out rather nice. There are so many walks of life in the phone sex world.

I worked a phone sex line for a good year. It was neither all bad or all good, but as a second job it was not the worst thing I could have done. The money I made was not great, but it helped pay the bills. And, by the way, if you are any good at it you can keep the people on the line for 45 minutes to an hour rather easily. Some who call are pretty sick, but most are just regular guys who are lonely or just bored. What's so bad about someone reaching out for comfort where they can find it?

Hey "Anonymous", please stop spamming the comment sections with your unsourced opinions. This photo article was about the people, and not the finances, of the industry. If you want to know about the finances google "PSO Phone Sex" and read the phone sex operator message boards. Like any other independent-contractor arrangement, many PSO's make modest amounts, a few make quite a lot of money (especially those who make their own web sites or promote their "persona" heavily online. So --- please read up before you criticize.
