Do the phone-staffers have access to the originating numbers? Can they connect to the local 911?
The wording ("other suicides") makes it pretty clear that this caller shot himself fatally. What would make someone intent on killing himself want to have a sexual-fantasy-conversation-provider on the line at the time of death? How often does something like this happen -- and is this worker's experience (three suicides over how many years of work?) representative? Has word gone out that she's the go-to girl for would-be suicides? What was happening in the conversation before the caller ended the call (and everything else)? Does she feel as if the caller made her to some extent responsible for his death in some way? IS she responsible to any extent? Did she have the chance to try to dissuade him? Did she encourage him?
C'mon, you cannot just drop something like this into such an article without some followup!

Without any more details from the operator, how can it be assumed that the caller did indeed commit suicide while on the line?

Perhaps it was a hoax, a stunt, a way of inflicting mental torment on the operator.
