No Justice, No Peace, No Convention

With most convention activities canceled due to Hurricane Gustav, protestors outnumbered delegates in the downtown St. Paul areas surrounding the Xcel Center Monday afternoon. Though the protests here were considerably smaller than the demonstrations at the Republican convention four years ago in New York, some strong similarities existed. "No blood for oil" signs were pervasive. "Hell no, we won't go" chants rang out. Marginal causes like the 9/11 Truth movement were represented. The police presence was strong; arrests were made. And of course, few media television crews were on hand to record the action.
