McDonald's

At issue

Bill Clinton's Big Mac attacks haven't helped boycotters tarnish the Golden Arches. McD's declined to comment anyway. (Incidentally, Whopper fans should note that the '87 boycott against Burger King was rescinded later that year, after BK stopped using beef raised on Costa Rican rain-forest land; word has never really gotten out.)

Impact

McD's is under fire for 1) test-marketing a "veggie burger" in the Netherlands--U.S. animal-rights groups want it served here; 2) wasteful beef production--Greenpeace (London) says it causes world hunger; and 3) paying inner-city workers in Philadelphia less than their suburban counterparts.
