Sara Catania is a freelance writer based in Los Angeles who specializes in stories on criminal and social justice. She was a 2004 John S. Knight Journalism Fellow and a 2002 Media Justice Fellow with the Open Society Institute. She has been a reporter at the Los Angeles Times and the LA Daily News and a staff writer at the LA Weekly.
