Sue Sturgis is the editorial coordinator of Gulf Coast Reconstruction Watch, a project of the Durham, NC-based Institute for Southern Studies.

Sturgis is a former staff writer for the Raleigh News & Observer and the Durham-based Independent Weekly. Her freelance work has appeared in publications including Southern Exposure magazine and the Village Voice. She is a finalist for a 2006 Association of Alternative Newsweeklies reporting award for her coverage of security problems at the Shearon Harris nuclear power plant for the Independent Weekly.

Sturgis holds a master's degree in journalism from New York University and a bachelor's degree in liberal arts from Penn State. She lives in Raleigh.
