McKenzie Funk was a finalist for a National Magazine Award in 2004. A former staff editor at National Geographic Adventure, he is now a contributing editor for the magazine and also writes for Harper’s, Mother Jones, Audubon, Popular Science, Men’s Journal, and Skiing. Funk graduated Phi Beta Kappa and with high honors from Swarthmore College in 1999 and speaks Spanish, German, Italian, and Russian. He lives in New York.
