Jason Mark is the California director of the Union of Concerned Scientists, where he oversees the organization’s climate science and policy work. Mark is also the national clean vehicles program director for the Union of Concerned Scientists and researches environmental vehicle technologies and fuels. Mark has authored numerous studies in the energy field on fuel economy, hydrogen and fuel cells, diesel technology, and energy security. He has served on the California Climate Change Advisory Committee, the California Hydrogen Highway Implementation Advisory Panel, and the US Department of Energy’s Hydrogen Technical Advisory.
Before joining UCS in 1995, Mark worked as a consultant on transportation policy analysis and mobile source modeling. His experience also includes work at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, where he focused on various renewable energy and transportation technologies, and with the Center for Energy and Environmental Studies at Princeton University. Mark received a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering from Princeton University and a master's degree in energy and resources from the University of California-Berkeley.
