With the Mark Foley scandal refusing to die down, does Speaker of the House Dennis Hastert stand a chance of political survival? We speak with John Laesch, Hastert's Democratic opponent who quickly rose from obscurity after the Foley story broke. Plus, K.A. Paul is the eccentric and shamelessly self-promotional preacher who says Hastert promised him he'd resign. Paul said that "God convinced [Hastert] through me in prayer." We talk with Josh Harkinson, who interviewed Reverend Paul for MotherJones.com. Whether Paul is telling the truth is questionable, but the real question is: Why did the speaker even take the meeting in the first place?
Also, we check in with Barry Lynn, director of Americans United for Separation of Church and State, about the influence of the Christian right on American politics today. Lynn is the author of "Piety and Politics: The Right-Wing Assault on Religious Freedom." Finally, we speak with journalist Adam Penenberg, author of the current Mother Jones magazine article "Is Google Evil?" His article warns that Google knows more about you than the NSA ever will -- and hasn't proven that it can keep secrets.
