Radio: Your host for Mother Jones Radio writes about herself and the show

Mother Jones went out and got itself a West Coast Hoosier, a San Franciscan by way of Hawaii, to host its new radio show. It's a great fit. MoJo has something to say to the whole country, and I've been around that country, and around radio, enough to bring MoJo Radio a worthwhile perspective.
We have the same goal: using the airwaves to make a difference. As a teenager, I volunteered for public TV; in the ‘80s, I hosted an arts feature and a women's networking show on Honolulu talk radio. Ten years of San Francisco news and traffic reporting included one of my proudest accomplishments: spearheading the first successful union drive in the history of Metro (Traffic) Networks. Then I landed an interview host slot on KQED Radio. That brought me my treasured 2003 PRNDI award, for the best large-station public radio interview in the country: an hour with Salman Rushdie - who briefly pogo danced for me after the show.
Now the time is right for me to be with Mother Jones Radio. The country is in deep trouble. Lies are passing as truth, our Constitution is being used as toilet paper, and cautiously hedged news and interviews just won't cut it for me anymore. I look at Bill Moyers, I look at Howard Dean, I look at Donna Brazile, and I know it's time to join the people who speak their truth. So I'm pleased, proud, even a bit giddy, to bring my skills to Mother Jones, an icon of honest political reporting that I've read and respected from my youngest cognizant years. I hope you'll join us – and let us know what you think!
