Michael Scherer is the Washington correspondent for Salon.com. Previously, he had been the Washington correspondent for Mother Jones, an assistant editor at the Columbia Journalism Review, an editorial fellow at Mother Jones, and an education reporter for the Daily Hampshire Gazette (Northampton, MA).

Scherer has been published in Rolling Stone, Salon.com, the Columbia Journalism Review, The Nation, Mother Jones, City Limits (NYC), Capitol Eye (Washington, D.C.), and Hampshire Life magazine.

Scherer received his masters degree from the Columbia University Graduate School of Journalism and his bachelors degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz.
