Radio: Bios of Mark and Ward Sutton

August 7, 2005

Mark and Ward Sutton are the creators of Morey's Minute, a regular comedy segment on Mother Jones Radio.

If you like your news served up like fast-food nuggets, Morey’s Minute is sure to satisfy. Host Morey Meniscus (yes, you’ve seen his byline in WeakTime magazine) is keenly aware that his next big scoop might be just around the corner, whether he knows it or not. With an established insider status that could only come from years of work as a cog in the Washington press machine, Morey has truly earned his reputation as a Mainstream reporter with a capital M!

Mark Sutton is a BMI composer, trumpet player, and writer who has composed for film, television, radio, jazz clubs, and the concert hall. Currently based in New York, his recent works for television include "New York Feeds Me," a public service announcement for City Harvest featuring Harrison Ford that won a Telly Award for post-production, and a commercial for Goodys Family Clothing. He as also written music for the feature film "Following Bliss," short films "Twenty Minutes of Immortality" (Independent Film Channel) and "Zog's Place" (Audience Award Winner at First Sundays Comedy Festival), and "Fear News Network," an animated short. Along with his brother Ward, he co-produced, wrote, and scored the televised animated series "The Adventures of Trex, Blind Dater." These and other samples are available on his web site.

Ward Sutton is a cartoonist, writer, filmmaker and illustrator. He creates a weekly political cartoon, Sutton Impact for the Village Voice. His first book, "Sutton Impact: The Political Cartoons of Ward Sutton," was published in July 2005 by Seven Stories Press.

Ward has created posters for many musicians including Beck, Pearl Jam, Radiohead and Phish, as well as for John Leguizamo’s Broadway show, “Freak,” and the 2000 Sundance Film Festival. His cartoons and illustrations have appeared in The New York Times, Rolling Stone, TV Guide, The Nation, and Entertainment Weekly.

Ward designed the opening animated segment to Comedy Central's cult hit "Strangers With Candy." He has created animation for HBO, VH-1, and TV Land and he is currently working on his own independent film.

With his family he splits his time between Greenwich Village in New York City and the prairies of North Dakota.
