Facebook Poll Asks: Kill Obama?
The Secret Service is investigating a facebook poll (since taken down) that asked if Obama should be assassinated.
The answer choices: "Yes," "No,” "Maybe," and "Yes if he cuts my health care."
Pretty scary stuff. But what’s scarier is how unsurprising it is.
Really, what's the difference between this and a gun-toting Obama-hater holding a sign that says "It's Time to Water the Tree of Liberty"—a nod to a Jefferson quote about neccessary bloodshed? (The health care angle is particularly predictable, considering the feverish odium it’s evoked).
But gimmicks like these tend to serve as an easy access point for greater social ills. And there’s something about a poll like this—its hatred so distilled and its medium so pedestrian—that forces you to confront the question: Just how bad have things become?

Things going bad
Things have been bad since 2000, when the Republicans stole the presidential election. They've gone worse since then. The only way things will ever be right again is when all of the mistakes of the past eight years have been addressed. When George W. Bush, Karl Rove, and Dick Cheney are in prison for conspiring to out a covert CIA agent; when Jed Bush and Katherine Harris (and her lackey, Clinton Roberts) are in prison for election fraud; when all of Bush's signing statements are rescinded; when all of the bad laws passed in connection with 9/11 are repealed; when Donald Rumsfeld, John Yoo, disgraced, ex-Attorney General Gonzales, and others, are in prison for ordering and rationalizing torture on the behalf of the American people; and when all of the environmental, political, social, military, and fiscal damage done by the criminals known as today's Republican Party is addressed by appropriate means -- then, and only then, will we have back the America that existed prior to the Republican coup of 2000, and the subsequent Republican crime spree.
I hate to say this but
I hate to say this but because its true, I will. Gore selecting Lieberman was such a BAD decision that in spite of the Supreme Court's actions, Gore deserved to loose. Lieberman did nothing to help he and Gore win. Lieberman saw this shot as a ticket to run in 2004 and had no problem waiting that long. Had Gore picked someone like Mario Cuomo, he would have likely won by a margin that disempowered the courts from altering the outcome. Even if Lieberman was a better selection on its merrits, I say as a Jew that the USA and the world wasn't quite ready for that. It was asking for trouble. Plus, Lieberman is not even the type of Jew who inspires people. He is still another 'go-along-get-along' Alan Greenspan type, who does little or nothing for society or for the Jewish people.
Rising in the polls?
That's right ... it's all because of (wait for it) ... BUUUUSSSHH. You retard.
People are starting to realize, and some overreact through fear, that "the government" is threatening to strangle the economy, their freedom and their childrens' future. And they blame politicians, like Obama (and Bush).
What people should realize is THE SYSTEM is flawed. HUMAN NATURE creates characters within this system that act in their OWN best interest (re-election, political payoffs, etc) rather than the people's best interest -- if that's even definable. The first casualty is THE FUTURE -- babies don't vote -- as the Stated borrows to spend on everything from ethanol to scooters without regard to benefit or paying for it. Just ring up the credit card.
None of this would matter so much if the STATE weren't so damn big and obtrusive. Bush/Reps expanded the state at reckless speed; Obama/Dems are quadrupling down on his record. Term limits, campaign finance reform, whatever ... none of it will matter if the State is not shrunk, hopefully to a point where citizens don't need to care so damn much what that little central govt is doing.
Like, say, Switzerland. Singapore. CHINA. Let the people handle their own money and lives -- economics 101 tells us that produces the most prosperity.
If Obama is hell-bent on the opposite approach of usurping personal liberty (and cash) to control lives from Washington, don't be surprised if many would (in their mind) patriotically put an end to his role in the "agenda" with .45 slug.... Read your history.
Well, there needs to be
Well, there needs to be something that incites an effing riot all across the nation. What's a really good way for a WHOLE lot of people to get really upset and begin to demand from the government that serves them what's owed. I know one way. There are others, but this article covers a scenario which would get a whole lot of people movin' and shakin', get 'em upset, get 'em to get off their lazy asses and to go do the things they talk about like a responsible citizen might.
Like Kevin Spacey said in "Se7en": "...you can't just tap someone on the shoulder anymore, you gotta hit 'em with a sledgehammer. Then you'll notice you have their strict attention."
The danger is not over.
As rdconger has alluded to: America has hell of a lot of work to do yet to deal with the corruption, blood and mess left by 8 years of stolen government. The danger with Obama having legitimately won the last election, and the Democrats (those that arent beholden to corporation lobbies)having control of both Houses, is that those that worked so hard to achieve this result will think that all the work is done. It isnt!! Not by a universe!! All of the blood lust, corruption, and greed that brought such as Bush to power is all still there. Their hatred building. Their determination to once again take power in ANY way they can still unchecked. Those of good faith and vision in America need to support Obama and stop living in California dreaming. The election of Obame was but one step. Dont stop. Do not let your current complacency permit the Right to control your country!!Your own country and the world needs you to keep those redneck legions away from power!!
