Kelly Clarkson Helps Teens Realize Pain of Adulthood
Flipping channels last night, I headed for Fox in search of some rerun Family Guy, and was confronted with the Teen Choice Awards. Normally, nothing could make me hit a button—any button!—on the remote more quickly, but I'm not sure what happened. Maybe I had set the remote down to eat a snack before I realized what I was watching, or maybe I saw David Boreanaz smirking his way through an intro and got flustered, but I suddenly found myself watching a live performance by Kelly Clarkson. The American Idol winner has been in the news lately since her apparent rumbles with Clive Davis over her new album, My December; the singer wrote most of the album herself and Davis didn't like it, I guess. The single, "Never Again," has been floating around the Billboard charts for a while, but I'd never actaully heard it, and her performance of it last night illustrated the conundrum perfectly: as the camera cut to an audience of shrieking teens and pre-teens, Clarkson and her band performed a driving, passionate, minor-key rock song. Clarkson reached into the upper registers of her voice to deliver lyrics that laid bare the agony of heartbreak with uncomfortable autobiographical references: "Bet it sucks/To see my face everywhere." Erp! The chorus avoids an obvious hook and instead just ups the emotional level from "fiery" to "conflagration," and overall the song is reminiscent of, I dunno, Heart's "Barracuda" or something. It's not great, or even that good, really, but her voice was flawless, and the performance was intense and affecting. However, the kids in the audience had looks in their eyes like the Tooth Fairy had just picked up a chain saw. Davis is probably right about the material's accessibility, but Clarkson may be headed somewhere far more interesting.

Kelly Clarkson is an amazing artist. I think alot of people do not realize how good she is until they hear her sing something live! I agree that some of the songs on her My December alubum may not be understood by a young audience, however Her voice is what brings all ages together!
Kelly Clarkson Rocks!!
Sincerely,
Chicago's #1 Kelly Clarkson Fan

"Stop Ignoring Your Child's Depression"
Those of us who love our children
unconditionaly, without any strings
attached at all, for the rest of their
lives or ours
which means that you not only
notice the new pair of jordan's you've
brought him or the $65.00 single
pair of jeans you brought her as she
struts across the floor in them for you.
Her comment to her sixteen year old daughter
was "Mama's Baby Knows She's Fine", yet did
she ever stop to think her daughter might have
much rathered if she would have taken the time
and noticed the signs and asked her, what was
really on her mind that day instead?
she did'nt know her daughter, would text this boy everyday confessing
how much in love she was with him?, and how she couldn't
and wouldn't live without his love, to no avail, simply
because he was dating another girl, behind her back, when
she was made aware of this, she then told friends that she was
contemplating suicide, her friends regret until this day they
didn't tell her mom because she made them sware to secretcy
although they none believed she was serious!
This Is a true story, there was a teenage girl who lived
in my neighborhood, she lived only two streets
from my home, I had seen her pass walking
one day, with her head down and I
subconsciously said to myself, I bet that child
needs a friend, most of the children affectionally calls me
"Ms. Tina" I was the neighborhood mom,one of only a few, I was always starting some
program or just doing something to make the under privillaged children in my neighborhood feel
just a little bit happier, which made me the happiest, before Katrina hit, I had just started our city's
first double dutch jump rope team that summer, to keep the girls out of trouble, which they
found themselves in more often than not.
I had a total of fifteen young girls on my team
who's ages ranged from 9-17 years of age
I had intended to invite her, to join the team the very
next time she passed and saw the team practicing, yet I
was too late, I too regret not talking to her, the same day I saw her, for the last time!
I recieved the heart breaking news just a week later, that on her 16th birthday
which should have been one of the happiest days of her life, she was supposedly getting
dressed while in her bedroom for her birthday party, while her mom was busy warmly
greeting her guest, as a loving mother would, they started arriving early, for the party that day
so her mother softly instructed, several of her daughter's friends
of have a seat and wait in the living room
which was close to her daughter's bedroom, she then assured them or so she thought
that her daughter would be out in a few minutes
then came that unforgeable loud noise, which sounded like
a gun shot, recalled one of the teenagers, My God this "Poor Child" sat on her bed with a loaded gun and took her own life the note that she left, was placed neatly in plain view
which read in short, "MAMA HE BROKE MY HEART, I'M SO SORRY BUT THE PAIN HURTS TOO MUCH"
Her mom found out too late that her daughter and her so called "Boyfriend" had broken up
only days before she took her life, her mother had never met him, yet they dated secretly for over
a year, her daughter was also four months pregnant.
