David Benjamin
March 5, 2001

In an industry that heavily favors the Republicans, David Benjamin supports the Democrats. An archeologist and building designer, he is part of Agenda 21, the sustainable development initiative that emerged from the Earth Summit in Rio in 1992. His company, Environmental Design Partners, has supported efforts to develop mass transit in southern Florida and designs homes and offices that reduce pollution and increase energy efficiency.

During the last election cycle, Benjamin gave almost all of his $176,500 to Democrats. The lone exception was a $5,000 contribution to New Century Energies, a political action committee founded by Senator John Kasich, an Ohio Republican.
