HealthLinks is the University of Washington Health Sciences Center’s clearinghouse for health care information. The site leans toward the technical, but is well organized with links to trade journals and to more mainstream sources such as Time.

For a hopeful sign of the times, Meanderings, a Web magazine, brings African-American issues to the white-as-a-collar Net community.

For the Web activist keeping track of a wide reange of progressive issues, try two sites: Democracy Works, the Institute for Alternative journalism’s guide to organizeing, serves more than 100 activist groups and contains endless links on topics including censorship, right-wing militias, arts and culture, women’s issue, the environment, and education.

Second, browse through The Progressive Directory, the Institute for Global Communications resource listing of action alerts and news.
