Nature’s Laboratory
Nalgene water bottles; Nalgene Outdoor Products/Nalge Nunc InternationalOh, c’mon! Nalgene? You must be joking! It’s true. Animal-loving hikers, put down those bottles. Nalgene’s parent company, Nalge Nunc International, makes and distributes laboratory equipment of all kinds in the U.S. and Europe, including cages used for metabolic experiments on rabbits, mice, rats, hamsters, and guinea pigs. Last year Rocky Mountain Animal Defense (RMAD) called a boycott against Nalgene which is now supported by Earth First!, PETA, and other animal rights activist groups. Alternative bottles are sold by Open Country, Cramer, Rubbermaid, and Tupperware.
